According to researchers, green building has the potential to generate an
additional $200 billion annually in the United States in worker performance by
creating offices with improved indoor air quality.

The design includes:

• Detailed evaluation of interior air quality and thermal comfort

9. Energy balance
• Projects demonstrating a net gain of electrical energy ( 0 kWh or more) after one week of competition receive a perfect score of 100 points

The Need for Improved Research Funding

• Construction-related research was only 1.2% of sales
• Software invests 23% of its sales in research
• Green buildings research accounted for only .2% of all federally funded research ($193 million per year)
• “… Green building research funding is fundamentally fragmented and thus not conducive to creating integrated solutions.”
