1950년 이후부터 현재까지 한국 현대판화의 태동과 전개를 일목

요연하게 볼 수 있는 한국현대판화전이 인도네시아 국립박물관과

필리핀 마닐라 메트로폴리탄 미술관에서 개최됩니다.

국립현대미술관과 공동주최로 개최되는 이번 전시는 국립현대미술

관이 소장하고 있는 판화작품 약 400여점 중 90여점을 소개합니다.

이번 전시는 인도네시아와 필리핀 현지인들에게 한국 현대판화의

영역이 목판화, 동판화, 석판화, 실크스크린, 디지털 판화 등 광범위 함

속에서 독특한 미감을 지닌 예술적 성과를 거두고 있음을 보여줍니다.

한국이 낳은 비디오 아트의 창시자 백남준의 위트 있는 판화 작품

들과 국내외의 각종 판화 공모전에서 큰 상을 수상하였던 작품들을

만날 수 있으며, 전후 한국의 추상미술과 괘를 같이한 추상 판화

작품들과 더불어 1980년대 민주화 열기를 함께 공유했던 민중 판화의

대표작품 또한 본 전시를 통해 소개됩니다.

The National Museum of Indonesia and the Metropolitan Museum of Manila, Philippines are hosting Fifty Years of Korean Contemporary Printmaking, an exhibition designed to highlight the beginnings and evolution of contemporary Korean printmaking over the past 50 years.

The exhibition presents carefully selected prints from the collections of the National Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art, Korea, which houses more than 400 print works. In the exhibition are also featured diverse printing forms, ranging from woodblock printing to copperplate printing, lithography, silk screen and even digital printing, and distinctive artistic accomplishments of Korean contemporary printmaking, for the enjoyment of audiences in Indonesia and the Philippines. Furthermore, also on display will be prints featuring the witty prints Nam-june PAIK, the founder of video art; prize winning works of the national and overseas printing competitions; abstract-style prints that correspond to the post war Korea abstractionism; and “minjung” prints that embodied the democratization of Korea in the 1980s will also be on display.

한국의 국립현대미술관은 한국의 현대판화가 갖고 있는 우수성을 일찍이 인식하여 지속적인 소장활동을 통해 약 400여점의 판화 컬렉션을 보유하고 있습니다. 이 컬렉션은 한국 판화계의 대표적 공모전 이었던 <서울국제판화비엔날레>(1970~94)나 <공간국제판화비엔날레> (1980~2011)에서 대상을 차지했던 작품에서부터 한국이 배출한 세계적인 비디오 아티스트인 백남준의 재치 있는 판화작품들, 시대와 사회에 대한 의식을 집단적으로 보여주었던 민중목판화에 이르기까지 개성 넘치는 작품들로 구성되어 있습니다. 시기적으로도 판화영역에 현대적인 기법이 수용되기 시작했던 1950년대의 작품에서부터 현재에까지 이르는 한국 현대판화 50년의 역사를 담고 있습니다. 따라서 약 90여점의 엄선된 국립현대미술관 소장 판화작품으로 기획된 이번 전시는 단지 한국현대 판화의 특성을 제시하는 것에 그치지 않고 한국현대미술의 역사적 전개와 특성의 한 단면을 보여주는 기회를 제공하고자 합니다.

The National Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art, Korea, had early recognized the importance of printing and continued building its print collection, which now encompasses well over 400 pieces. The collection consists of grand-prize winning works from the Seoul International Printing Biennale (1970-1994) and Gonggan International Printing Biennale (1980-2011); the witty prints of the world-renowned video artist Nam-june Paik; and not to mention the minjung woodblock printmaking that collectively exhibit the consciousness of the era and society. The collection embraces 50 years of contemporary Korean printmaking since the 1950s, when modern printing techniques were introduced into Korea. This exhibition features 90 pieces of carefully selected prints from the collection of the National Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art, Korea and aims not only to suggest the characteristics of contemporary Korean printing but also to illustrate a facet of development and traits of Korea's contemporary art.

인도네시아 국립박물관National Museum of Indonesia | IndonesiaThe National Museum of Indonesia located in Jakarta, is widely known as "Elephant Building (Geding Gajah)" based on an elephant sculpture in its forecourt. The Museum is the largest museum in Indonesia and has a collection of 61,600 prehistoric and anthropological artifacts, 5,000 pieces of archeological objects and as well as contemporary arts, including paintings, drawings, prints, sculptures, photography and installations. The Museum is also well known for the display of the Java Man skull.

인도네시아 국립박물관은 인도네시아 자카르타에 위치해 있는 종합 박물관이다. 박물관 건물 정면 광장에 코끼리 청동상이 놓여 있어 '코끼리의 집(Gedung Gajah)'이라고도 불리는 동 박물관은 인도네시아 최대의 역사박물관으로 6만 1600점의 선사시대 및 인류학 문화재와 5,000점의 고고학 유물을 소장하고 있으며, 채색화, 드로잉, 판화, 조각, 사진, 설치미술 등 현대 미술품도 전시하고 있다. 무엇보다 자바 원인(猿人)의 두개골을 전시하고 있는 박물관으로 유명합니다.

마닐라 메트로폴리탄 미술관Metropolitan Museum of Manila | PhilippinesThe Metropolitan Museum in Manila opened in 1976 to exhibit non-Philippine art. Since 1988, Philippine artists were able to show their works in the Museum. Displayed artworks are produced through consulting the museum's interested parties, such as entrepreneurs, government officials, politicians, and the Collection Dept. of the Central Bank of the Philippines. One of their highlights in the collection is the Philippine potteries and gold crafted objects from the early pre-colonial period.

1976년에 개관한 마닐라 메트로폴리탄 미술관은 처음에는 해외 유명 예술작품들만 전시하였다가, 1988년 이후부터 필리핀 예술가들의 작품도 함께 전시하기 시작하였다. 다양한 작품들을 소장하고 있는 동 박물관은 각 정부기관들과 정치가, 필리핀 중앙은행 예술작품 수집부 등 규모가 큰 사업주의 컨설팅을 거쳐 지금의 모습을 갖추게 되었다. 이 미술관은 특히 필리핀 식민지배 초기 당시의 자기그릇 공예와 금세공 작품들로 유명하다.
