Materials Picture Cards (Acvity Master) – Copy on cardstock, cut apart and laminate. Racetrack Game Board (Acvity Master) – Copy on cardstock, connect and laminate. Number Cube (Acvity Master) Matchbox Cars (one per child) Acvity Aſter teacher introducon, children will use a variety of word meaning relaonships by describing a picture while playing a board game. 1. Set up Racetrack Game Board game with Picture Cards face down in a stack. Each child chooses one Matchbox Car and puts it on Start. 2. Child one picks a card from the stack, names the picture, and describes as much as possible about the picture. (e.g., If the picture is a farm, the child may say “Farms have barns, lots of animals like horses, cows and pigs. The cows give us milk.) 3. If the child does not say much, the others in the group may say, “Tell me more, tell me more” and ask quesons to get the child to give more details. (e.g., “What kind of animals live on the farm?”) 4. When child one is finished describing the picture, the child rolls the number cube to see how many spaces to move the car on the board. 5. Connue taking turns unl all the cards have been described or someone reaches the Finish space on the board. 6. Peer evaluaon. Adaptaons and Extensions Work with a partner using one car per partner. Take turns telling details about the picture. Choose a picture to draw. Add as many details as possible to the drawing and then describe it to the group/class. Play a guessing game: Child one draws a card without anyone seeing and describes the picture to the group. The group must guess what the picture is. $ 6 4
