To give an account of what one did or what happened
In chronological order
*It is NOT used to describe people or things.
*It is one of the past tenses you will be learning to use.

How do we obtain the
participe passé of a verb?
Verbs ending in “-er” and “-ir”
Infinitif participe passé
ending in -er aller manger

We use the auxiliaire avoir for all non-pronominal verbs except aller, venir,
arriver, rester, partir, entrer, sortir, monter, descendre, naître et mourir

For•all verbes pronominaux (verbs with “SE” in front, for example s’appeler) AND•aller(to go), venir (to come), arriver (to arrive), rester (to stay), partir (to leave), entrer (to enter), sortir (to go out), monter (to go up), descendre (to descend), naître (to be born) et mourir (to die)
