• เปนหนวยงานอิสระ ภายใตการกํากับดูแลของกระทรวงอุตสาหกรรม• จัดตั้งโดยความรวมมือของภาครัฐและเอกชน• จัดตั้งขึ้นเมื่อวันที่ 18 มกราคม 2537

วัตถุประสงคเพื่อพัฒนาการเพิ่มผลิตภาพของภาครัฐและ

ภาคเอกชนใหมีระดับสูงขึ้นรองรับการเปลี่ยนแปลงในอนาคต

เพื่อการแขงขันในตลาดโลก เปนศูนยกลางประสานและรณรงคสงเสริมการ

ผลิตภาพ หมายถึง การมีจิตสํานึกที่จะปรับปรุงและสรางสรรคสิ่งตาง ๆ ใหดีขึ้นกวาเดิมอยูเสมอ โดยมีความเชื่อวา วันนี้ตองดีกวาเมื่อวาน และพรุงนี้ตองดีกวาวันนี้

ความหมายทางสังคมศาสตรความหมายทางสังคมศาสตร

ผลิตภาพ หมายถึง การผลิตสินคาหรือใหบริการที่มีผูตองการ ดวยการใชทรัพยากรตาง ๆ ใหคุมคากวาเดิม ซึ่งจะเกิดขึ้นได ถาทรัพยากรบุคคลของประเทศมีจิตสํานึกดานการเพิ่มผลผลิต
