Configuring DC-HSDPA

This to describe how to activate, verifies, and deactivates the DC-HSDPA. DC-HSDPA is theacronym for Dual Cell-HSDPA.

The network is ready. Table 1 describes the requirements on NEs.

NE Requirements

CN The CN and HLR support a downlink peak rate of 42 Mbit/s per user.

RNC The software version is RAN12.0 or later.

NodeB Hardware requirements:The 3900 series base station is configured with a baseband boardsupporting six cells (for example, WBBPb3, WBBPb4, WBBPd1, or WBBPd2), or two baseband boards, each supporting three cells (for example, WBBPb1 or WBBPb2).

The software version is RAN12.0 or later.

UE The UE must belong to categories 21 to 24, as specified by the 3GPPspecifications.

The license has been activated.

Context

The DC-HSDPA feature allows the UE to establish downlink connections to two inter-frequencyco-coverage cells simultaneously, thus increasing the peak downlink throughput of the UE. Thegain of downlink throughput is higher when the UE is located at the cell edge.

Procedure

Activation Procedure

1. Run the RNC MML command DEA UCELL to deactivate the cell.

For example,

DEA UCELL: CellId=1;

2. Run the RNC MML command SET UCORRMALGOSWITCH to selectCFG_HSDPA_DC_SWITCH from the Channel configuration strategy switch list.

For example,

SET UCORRMALGOSWITCH: CfgSwitch=CFG_HSDPA_DC_SWITCH-1;3. Run the RNC MML command SET UFRC to set Preferred MIMO_64QAM or

DC_HSDPA character is set to DC_HSDPA .

For example,

SET UFRC: MIMO64QAMorDcHSDPASwitch= DC_HSDPA;

4. Run the RNC MML command SET UFRCCHLTYPEPARA to set the HSDPAthreshold for DL streaming services and for DL BE services.

SET UFRCCHLTYPEPARA: DlStrThsOnHsdpa=D64,DlBeTraffThsOnHsdpa=D64;

5. Run the RNC MML command MOD UCELLALGOSWITCH to selectDL_L2ENHANCED and DC_HSDPA from the Cell Hspa Plus function switch list.

For example,

MOD UCELLALGOSWITCH: CellId=1,HspaPlusSwitch=DL_L2ENHANCED-1&DC_HSDPA-1;

6. Run the RNC MML command MOD UCELLHSDPA to select Automatic from theAllocate Code Mode list, select ON from the Code Adjust Switch for HSDPA list.

For example,

MOD UCELLHSDPA: CellId=1, AllocCodeMode=Automatic,

CodeAdjForHsdpaSwitch=ON;7. Run the RNC MML command LST UCELL to view the UARFCNDownnlink of a

cell, ensure that the two cells in the DC-HSDPA work in the neighbor frequencies.

LST UCELL: LstType=ByCellId, CellId=1;

8. Modify the IPPATH BW from 21Mbps to be 42Mbps

For example,
