NEWS AND NOTICES
Comment: Sometimes it rains during children's swim lessons, which are held at the Green Beach pool, and it can be too crowded for lap swimming. It also feels too cold in the pool. If the Main Base has two pools, Purdy and Green Beach, why can't the Purdy pool be open for swim lessons, and recreational and lap swimming when the Green Beach pool is open?

Response: Thank you for your comment. For 2018, under Navy-wide MWR guidance, CFAY is only approved to keep one pool on Main Base and one pool in Ikego open at any given time. For summer we do open the Purdy pool for physical training from 5:30 to 7:30 a.m. on weekdays. Green Beach pool is open 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. every day. We are always looking to deliver the best service, so

while we cannot overlap Main Base pool opening times, we will explore changes in the transition time from Purdy to Green Beach to see if a better balance can be struck to suit our community needs. As for the Green Beach pool temperature, the current water temperature is 79 degrees. Though this is ideal for lap swimming, it is not for recreational swimming, which should be around 83 degrees. As
the summer continues to heat up, the Green Beach pool temperature will rise. Thank you for your comment and enjoy the rest of the summer at one of our pools.
