Nawa Academy is proud to announce theformation of its Equestrian
Program, calledHorsemanship 101.
The course will be taught by Heather Parker,one of the
International Travel Program academicinstructors, and will be
offered to the on-campus
programs beginning fall of 2008.The 40 hour course, to be taught
daily, will
teach students basic horse care, proper feedingand nutrition,
preventative health care, diseases,horse anatomy, natural training
methods andriding skills.
In addition, students will assist veterinarians,
dentists and farriers, and learn how to applyconditioned
response and pressure and releasetechniques to change horse
behavior.
The curriculum boasts many more skills,and aims to empower
students and help themdevelop self-con dence, while learning
abouthorsemanship.
Parker has a degree in Molecular, Cellular and Developmental
Biology from the Universityof California, Santa Cruz. She is a
certi edhorse trainer and instructor, and has experiencerunning a
therapeutic horseback-riding programfor children with special
needs.
