The Kansas Board of Education will decide vvhether to allow creationism to be taught in the States schools. Greationism, or the creation theology is the beliet that humans and the universe were created by a supreme being or deity. Because creationism ties religious teaching into the theory of evolution, some school administrators say that it should be banned from public schools.

Because of the proliteration of more scientitic theories, the creation theology has lost popularity and support from the general, non-religious public. It seems likely that creationism will be banned by the Board of Education. If the curriculum changes are given preliminary apprval by the board, it will affect the standards used in statevvide Science tests.

Kansas is one of the many states vvhere teaching creationism is under attack. In Georgias Cobb County, for instance, the local school district stuck labels on textbooks saying, Creationism is a theory, not a fact. It was told to remove them by a district judge. In Pennsylvania, the State House of Representatives is discussing a bill to introduce an alternative to creation theory into the public-school code. In all, disputes involving creationism are bubbling in around 20 of the 50 states.
