Each of the above staff will be working very hard to provide a wide range of learning opportunities for our students to become involved in. WINTER SPORTS TEAMS Despite the hot weather conditions at present, the winter sports season is fast approaching. We are hoping to enter MIS teams for regular competitions in the following codes during terms two and three:

• Basketball at the YMCA in term two • Boys football playing on a Saturday morning • Girls football, playing on a Wednesday after school • Hockey at Clareville

All teams will train on the MIS turf after school One mixed team will play as our 1st XI Other mixed teams will play in 6-a-side competitions

• Netball at Colombo Road courts on a Tuesday afternoon/evening The Year 8 A team will play on a Saturday.

Students who are keen to play in any of these MIS sports teams will receive a letter in March to explain trial dates and times, subscription costs and other organisational details. The number of teams that we will be able to enter will be determined by the availability of coaches. Many of our staff have already put their hand up to coach teams but we will require parents and other adults to do so as well. I do encourage you to offer your assistance so that we can cater for all students who want to play. Please phone the school office on (06) 370-0088 or you may contact Nicola Veale, our awesome sports co-ordinator on [email protected] if you are happy to put your hand up.

BRING YOUR OWN CHROMEBOOK

At MIS, we provide 20 Chromebooks per classroom for the exciting and important learning we do in ‘digital spaces’. We do a great deal of research, creation and collaboration using these tools and are fortunate to be so well-stocked! We do also allow students to bring their own Chromebook. Having your own device certainly has some advantages. These include guaranteed access to your own device any time there is a learning need and also the obvious advantage of being able to continue their learning at home. There have been some people inquiring about the cost and installation of a Google Licence. We do not require you to purchase this at MIS. Any student will be able to connect their personal to our Chromebook to our network providing they are using their MIS Google account only to log in. MIS provides safe, lockable storage for all student-owned devices. All devices should be places in these cabinets when not in use. For Your Information
