INSTRUCTIONS TO THE CANDIDATES

(For the Students Studying in Class X)

1. Make sure that the Admit Card is not detached from the application form. Admit cards will be sent tothe respective Head Masters of the school after allotting the Roll Numbers Candidates can collect theAdmit Card from the Head Masters of the school at least one week before the examination.

2. Reach the Examination centre atleast half an hour before the commencement of the examination; andoccupy the seat that bears your Roll Number.

3. DO NOT take calculator, mathematical & physical table or any other kind of ready reckoner to theexamination hall.

4. The examination will be conducted in two sessions on the same day.

5. Write your Roll Number, as given in the Admit Card, on the Answer Sheet and on the cover page ofthe Question Booklet in the space provided.

6. DO NOT write your name in any part of the Question Booklet or the Answer Sheet.

7. All questions in the booklets are objective type. For each question FOUR possible answers are given,but only one is correct. Your task is to find out the correct answer and mark you choice in the AnswerSheet.

8. Record your answer-using BLUE OR BLACK BALL-POINT PEN only. You have to indicate your

answer on the answer sheet.

9. During the Examination follow the instructions of the Invigilator strictly.

10. Hand over your Question booklet and Answer sheet to the invigilator before you leave the ExaminationHall.

11. Hand over the admission card to the Invigilator before leaving the examination hall.

NATIONAL TALENT SEARCH EXAMINATION 2012 13 ( STATE LEVEL)

INFORMATION TO CANDIDATES

The N.T.S.Examination for the academic year 2012 2013 will be held for thestudents currently studyingin Std. X, and obtained 60 % of marks in the IX Std. Examination atthe annual level.

The amount of scholarship will be Rs. 500/- per month (as per M.H.R.D. guidelines).

The State Level examination will be conducted on Sunday 18th November, 2012 in allthe District Headquarters of the State.

The State reservation policy will be adapted, for the selection of candidates including 3%for physically challenged group of students.

Students of Class X studying in recognized Schools are eligible to appear for thisexamination. N.T.S. awardees of Class VIII, are not required to appear in class X. The un-successful candidates of Class VIII can now appear for Class X examination. The N.M.M.S.awardees are allowed to appear for N.T.S.Examination.

The pattern of written Examination for Class X will be as follows :-

There will be 90 questions each in Mental Ability Test and Scholastic Aptitude Test.Each question carries one mark.

The time allowed is 90 minutes for MAT and SAT Examination, separately.

The question format for SAT will be based on the syllabus for Class IX and X as prescribedby the State and C.B.S,E. Examination Boards.

For SAT paper, the number of questions allocated for each subject will be as follows:

Physics 12, Chemistry 11, Biology 12, Mathematics 20, History 10, Geography 10,Political Science 10 and Economics 5.

Visually challenged candidates are allowed 30 minutes extra time for both MAT and SATExaminations. As per the quota allotted for the State by the NCERT, 256 candidates will beselected in Stage I of N.T.S.Examination.

Application form may be downloaded from the Directorate of Government Examinationswebsite. www.dge.tn.nic.in/NTSE from 21.08.2012 to 31.08.2012.

After filling the application form, the candidates may remit the Rs.50/- in the challan availablealong-with the application, and may be remitted in any one of the Treasury/Sub-Treasury of theState Government. Any other mode of payment viz. Demand Draft/Cheque/Postal Orders will not beaccepted.

Information regarding issue of hall-tickets wil be issued separately.

Application form should be submitted only at the respective Regional Deputy Director ofGovernment Examinations, on or before 31.08.2012 before 5.45 P.M. Late applications willsummarily be rejected.
