Plants use water and air to make their own food.
Plants can only make this food when they grow in sunny places.

It is a picture of apple tree life cycle.
Look at the seed. A seed lands in soil and sprouts.
It grows into a young plant called a seedling.
The seedling grows into a tree.
What is it? It is a bud.
The bud turns into a flower.
The flower turns into a fruit. The fruit is made by flowers.
And the fruit has seeds inside.
This is the life cycle of a tree.
Let's look at the parts of a plant.
Do you know what we call this? It is a flower.
You know what it is called. It is a fruit.
The flowers turn into fruit.
What about them? They are leaves.
The leaves make food for the plant.
Look at the bottom. What do you see?
They are roots. The roots grow under the ground.
The roots helps the plant to get food and water, too.
The roots holds the plant in place.
Do you know what it is? It is a stem.
The stem carried food to the rest of the plant.

Look at the picture. What is this falling down on the ground? A seed is falling.

The worm is wiggling over to the seed. Look at the seed. It looks scared.
Will the worm eat the seed? Let's see what happens to the seed next.
The worm does not eat the seed. The worm is making a path so that the earth can breathe.
Thanks to the worm, the seed can grow well.
Now the seed becomes a sprout. The sprout needs sunshine.

활동목표 : 픽쳐북의 주요 단어 익히기, 식물이 자라는데 필요한 요소 알기
준 비 물 : 그림 자료 - sun, rain, wind, worm, bee, ladybug, car, fish, pig, aphid
교 구 - 씨앗교구
(펠트를 씨앗 모양 두 겹으로 자른 다음 테두리만 붙여 그림 자료를 넣을 수 있게 한다.)
상자 ( 여러 가지 그림 자료 넣은 용도 )
활동방법 :
1) 그림 자료를 하나씩 제시하며 식물의 성장에 필요한 요소인지 아닌지 이야기 나눈다.

2) 씨앗 교구를 칠판에 붙인다.

3) 상자에 그림 자료를 모두 넣는다.
4) 아이들을 한 명씩 나오게 하여 눈 감고 상자에서 그림을 하나씩 꺼내게 한다.
5) 씨앗이 자라는데 필요한 것이면 씨앗 주머니에 넣어준다.

활동방법 :
1) 씨앗이 자라는데 필요한 것들의 이름을 학습한다.
2) 그림 자료를 목걸이 형태로 하여 아이들이 목에 걸 수 있게 한다. 그림이 보이지 않게 뒤집어서 놓는다.
3) 씨앗이 된 친구는 그 중 한 명을 고른다.

활동목표 : I'm your friend. 문장을 자연스럽게 말할 수 있다.
준 비 물 : 그림책 p.6의 나무그림, 진드기 여러 마리, 무당벌레 여러 마리
무당벌레 머리띠, 진드기 머리띠(그림 파일 첨부)
활동방법 :
1) 나무 그림에 진드기와 무당벌레 그림을 붙여둔다.
2) 무당벌레와 진드기 머리띠를 할 유아 두 명을 고른다.
3) 가위, 바위, 보를 하여 무당벌레가 이기면 Don't be afraid. I'm your friend. 라고 말한 후
진드기 한 마리를 떼어낼 수 있다. 진드기가 이기면 무당벌레 그림을 떼어낸다.
Look at the small tree. There are many aphids on the small tree.
Ladybugs are a little tree's friends so the ladybugs will catch the aphids.
I need two volunteers. One will be an aphid and the other will be a ladybug.

휴대용 선풍기나 부채, 캐치볼 공(유리나 매끄러운 면에 붙는 문어발 공)
활동방법 :
1) 나무가 자라는데 필요한 요소들을 카드를 통해 한 번 더 복습한 후
sun, rain, wind 단어는 칠판에 붙인다.
2) 상자에 랜턴, 분무기, 부채(선풍기)를 넣어둔다.
I have a spray bottle, a flash light and a hand fan.
3) 아이 한 명을 나오게 하여 (나무역할) 공을 던져 카드를 맞히게 한다.
비에 공에 맞거나 붙으면 I'm afraid of the rain. 문장을 말하게 한다. 나머지 단어도 동일하게 말하게 한다.

활동목표 : 식물 성장 관련 단어 또는 자연 관련 단어를 말해본다.
준 비 물 : sun, wind, rain, ladybug, worm, bird, bee /
seed, sprout, seedling, tree, flower, bud, fruit
밀폐용기 뚜껑을 활용해 교구를 만든다.
활동방법 :
1) 용기 개수에 맞게 단어를 붙이고 위치를 기억하게 한다.
처음 게임을 진행할 때에는 사과나무 성장 과정에 맞게
순서대로 붙인다.

2) 게임을 여러 번 반복할 경우에는 순서에 상관없이 붙인다.
3) 교사가 말한 단어를 찾아서 가지고 오게 한다.

활동목표 : 사과나무의 life cycle 을 순서대로 나열 할 수 있다.

활동방법 :
1) 워크북 review 의 그림 자료로 나무가 자라는 과정을 복습한다.
2) seed - sprout - seedling - young tree - tree with flowers - tree with fruit
(용어는 들려주는 정도로 하고 자라는 과정을 순서대로 배열하는 것에 중점을 둔다)
3) 아이 한 명을 나오게 하여 그림 카드를 순서대로 붙이게 한다.
(앞에 사용한 밀폐용기 뚜껑 게임판을 활용하면 좋다.)
아이들과 약속하여 시간제한을 두면 더 재미있게 활동할 수 있다.
4) 나머지 아이들은 교사가 제시한 문장을 반복하여 외친다.
Don't be afraid - 10번 또는 I'm your friend 5번 등 횟수나 문장은 계속하여 바꿀 수 있다.
▶ Extra Activity 2 [ Parts of a Plant ]
활동목표 : 식물의 부분 명칭 알기
준 비 물 : 교구 - flower, stem, leaves, roots ( 아래 그림 참고)
활동방법 :
1) 사전활동에서 다루었던 식물의 부분 명칭에 대해 간단하게 복습한다.
2) flower, stem, leaves, roots 파트로 나누어 퍼즐처럼 식물을 완성하는 게임을 한다.

활동목표 : It is too cold / strong / loud / hot 문장 익히기
준 비 물 : 그림카드 - loud, strong, cold, hot
활동방법 :
1) 각각의 단어에 어울리는 적당한 액션을 같이 정한다.
2) 교사가 액션을 취하면 해당하는 단어와 함께 문장을 말하게 한다.
예를 들어 손 부채질을 하며 더운 표정을 했다면 "Hot, it is too hot." 하고 말하게 한다.
3) 반대로 교사가 문장을 말하면 아이들이 동작을 취하는 연습을 한다.
4) 교사가 동작이나 문장을 듣고 알맞은 카드 찾기
또는 팀을 나누어 맨 처음 아이에게만 카드를 보여주고 동작을 전달하게 하여 마지막 친구가 문장 알아맞히기

2) 단어그림이 붙은 사과를 하나씩 제시하여 단어를
말한 후 사과나무에 붙인다.
3) 사과에 붙은 단어를 말하거나 교사가 말한 단어가 붙은
사과를 찾으면 사과를 가져간다. ( 게임 중에만 )
나머지 아이들은 "Have an apple." 이라고 말한다.

활동방법 :
1) 아이들을 동그랗게 앉힌 다음 파닉스 그림 카드를 나누어 준다. 아이들 모두가 파닉스 그림을 갖고 있도록 한다.

2) 무릎, 손뼉, 왼손, 오른손의 네 박자에 맞추어

활동방법 :
1) 파닉스 단어의 이름을 하나씩 들려준다. Listen to the words that I say.
2) 아이들에게 단어의 첫 소리를 말하게 한다. Let's say the first sounds of the words together.
3) 교사가 말한 단어와 단어의 첫 소리 카드를 연결하는 활동 연습을 한다.

4) 동물에게서 얻을 수 있는 음식을 말하고 주머니에서 그림 막대를 하나 뽑는다.

작품명 : 'Don't Be Afraid' Wheel
- 만들기 전, Picture Book의 주요 단어들을 그림카드를 활용하여 복습한다.
- Picture Book에서 씨앗이 자라도록 도움을 주었던 것들의 이름을 기억하며 스티커를 찾아 붙인다.
- Wheel에 나무의 성장과정을 기억하여 말해보며, 차례대로 스티커를 붙인다.
- Main sheet에 Wheel을 부착하고 씨앗에서부터 나무가 되는 과정의 이름을 기억하여 말해본다.

We have a paper, a wheel, a sticker paper and a pair of buttons.

1) 이름쓰기
Look at the cover. Do you see the title? What is the title?
Do you see the line under the title?
Write you name on the line and on the sticker too.
Then you can easily find your own sticker on the desk.
2) 스티커 붙이기 1 (씨앗 도와준 친구들 스티커 붙이기)
Look at the shadow. What are they? Can you guess whose shadow it is?
What helped the seed grow in the story?
Do you remember who said " I'm your friend" ?
The worm said "I'm your friend."
Let's take out the worm sticker and put it on the shadow.
The sun said " I'm your friend." Place the sun sticker on the shadow.

3) 스티커 붙이기 2 (씨앗 성장 순서대로 돌림판에 스티커 붙이기)
Do you see a wheel? What is on the wheel?
This is the life cycle of an apple tree.
There is a seed. Place the seed sticker on its shadow.
It grows and becomes a sprout. Place the sprout sticker on its shadow.
The sprout grows and becomes a seedling. Find and put the stickers on.
4) Wheel 고정하고 풀칠하여 책 완성하기
Do you see an apple on the right?
We are going to fix the wheel under the apple.
There is a little hole in the apple.
Attach the wheel on the center point using the buttons carefully.
Now let's glue on the paper and put them together.
The wheel is done.
We can spin the wheel and see the pictures through the hole.

활동목표 : 픽쳐북의 단어 익히기 (worm, sun, ladybug, rain, bee, wind, bird)
준 비 물 : 그림책 단어 카드
활동방법 :
1) 아이들을 2-3명이 한 팀이 되도록 나눈 뒤, 한 팀이 먼저 앞으로 나와 한 줄로 서게 한다.
Let's make a team with 2~3 persons. Which team wants to go first?
2) 맨 앞사람은 교사를 보고, 나머지 아이들은 뒤를 보고 선다.
Team A, line up please. The one who is in the front should look at me, and the rest of the team should
turn around.
3) 교사는 맨 앞 아이에게 그림 카드를 보여준다.
I will show you a card. Look at the card carefully and show it to the next person with motions.
You can not talk. You can only explain the card with gestures.
4) 맨 앞 아이는 그 다음 아이를 돌아서게 한 뒤, 몸짓으로 단어를 설명한다.
(소리를 낼 수 없으며, 몸짓으로만 설명해야 한다.)
5) 마지막에 선 아이까지 몸짓으로 단어를 전달하고, 마지막 아이가 단어를 맞춘다.

활동목표 : 식물이 자라는 데 필요한 요소 알기
준 비 물 : Picture Cards – worm, sun, ladybug, rain, bee, wind, bird, cup, pencil, eraser, tooth brush, book …
Picture card를 넣을 수 있는 도구 (주머니 또는 상자, 계란 알 등)
식물 자라는 사진 (교재사진 첨부)
활동방법 :
1) 그림 자료를 통해 식물이 자라는데 필요한 요소를 익힌다.
2) 필요한 요소와 불필요한 요소 그림 자료를 상자에 섞어 넣는다. (계란 알 이용 시에는 하나씩 넣는다.)
3) 아이들이 나와서 그림 카드를 하나씩 고르게 한다.
4) 식물이 자라는데 필요한 요소이면 "Don’t be afraid. I’m your friend."라고 모두 함께 말하고 위에 식물이 자라는
카드를 하나씩 붙이게 하고 아니면 "I’m not your friend."라고 모두 함께 말하고 식물카드를 하나씩 거꾸로
떼어간다.
Tip. 교재의 사과나무가 자라는 카드를 붙이면서 seed-sprout-tree-flower-fruit 등의 표현도 함께 익힌다.
(처음 게임을 할 때는 식물이 자라는데 필요한 요소를 중점으로, 두 번째에는 apple tree life cycle을 중점으로 활동을
한다.)
