MODALIDADES

• El Presente Continuo o Presente Progresivo es un tiempo verbal que se utiliza para expresar acciones que suceden en el mismo momento en que se está hablando.

• Este tiempo verbal se construye utilizando como auxiliar el Presente Simple del modo indicativo del verbo TO BE y como verbo principal en infinitivo con la terminación ING.

A partir de esta tabla veremos como se forma este tiempo verbal

1ª per. plural we are talking nosotros/as estamos hablando

Puede utilizarse además para referirse a situaciones que suceden alrededor del momento en el que se habla, aunque no precisamente tiene que ser en este mismo momento, por ejemplo:

He is working in a bank.

Este tiempo verbal podemos usarlo para expresar distintas cosas; y en diferentes circunstancias:

Para referirnos a acciones que se están desarrollando en el mismo momento en el que se habla.I am reading a book -> Yo estoy leyendo un libro (en este preciso instante)

También utilizamos el presente continuo para describir cosas que suceden alrededor del momento al que estamos hablando.She is studying English -> Ella está estudiando inglés (no precisamente ahora)

Podemos usar el presente continuo para referirnos a acciones que se vienen produciendo con cierta frecuencia.

• Se forma conjugando el verbo "to be" en presente de indicativo seguido de un verbo en forma –ing

NEGACIÓN E INTERROGACIÓN DEL PRESENTE CONTINUO

• Para negar el presente continuo tenemos que colocar la partícula not entre el auxiliar y el verbo principal. Sujeto + presente de "to be" + not + verbo -ing + ...

• Para hacer preguntas tenemos que poner primero el auxiliar y después el pronombre personal.

• I am not eating now -> Yo no estoy comiendo ahora

• Are you eating? -> ¿Estás comiendo?
