ThanksgivingThank God for giving me this undeserved
learning opportunity to serve as the President of FLC in the past year. When I responded to God’s calling for full-time ministry some 10 years back, I could have never thought that one day I would be involved in this very meaningful and vital ministry, both to the Chinese churches and to the wider Chinese community. In 2010, my wife and I were asked to serve as the MCs at the FLC thanksgiving dinner. The following year, I became a member and began serving on FLC’s Management Committee.
So why serve at FLC? “He has showed you, O man, what is good. And what does the Lord require of you? To act justly and to love mercy And to walk humbly with your God.” (Micah 6:8)
We as Christians are called to serve the world, but this ministry does not and cannot be limited to those who come to the “church premises”. We also need to actively reach out to those within the wider community who are in need of God’s love and mercy. And we do that not only through what we preach, i.e., the gospel, but also through what we do, i.e., in loving our neighbours as ourselves. Community service is not an optional ministry, it reflects who we are as the restored image bearer of God our Father who cares for us all.
Thank God that He has given godly, gifted, humbled, people-oriented, dedicated, Christ-centred and Spirit-led people to be members of the FLC Management Committee. We all have our different stories of how we are called to serve at FLC, and of how we responded by serving faithfully and fearfully. Most of all, we can all share with you how God has touched and transformed the lives of many through this ministry, including those who served there.

MinistryIn April, FLC had invited Dr. Yu from Hong
Kong to lead a series of talks at various venues. The highlight was our 20th Thanksgiving and Fundraising Dinner. Praise the Lord for His continual providence in times of our needs. We are once again assured that FLC is His ministry and He is the one who moves the hearts of His people to serve in various ways.
Our pastoral renewal ministry is in its fourth year running. People who are in full-time ministry, including pastors, missionaries, workers in para-church organisations, and theological students and their spouses, can now benefit from FLC’s counselling and education programs.
Looking AheadWe ask that you may pray for our ministry at FLC:• To keep up with the changing counselling
needs of our society;• To continue to seek God’s guidance;• To be faithful to His call to serve the Chinese
communities, in English, Cantonese and Mandarin;
• To have more dedicated Christian counsellors, educators and supporting staff;

Counsellors (Part-time)- Expression of InterestFirst Light Care is an independent Christian charity that promotes better interpersonal relationships, personal development, marital growth and healthy family lives in the Chinese and the wider Australian communities through professional counselling, education and training.
We sincerely invite interested bilingual Christian counselling professionals who commit to share FLC’s vision and mission to join our team. We'd like to hear from you if you:
- speak fluent English AND Mandarin and/or Cantonese,
- have a good understanding of Chinese culture,
- possess a recognised tertiary qualification in Psychology, Social Work, Clinical Psychology, Family Therapy or other related mental health disciplines, and
- are eligible for membership with an appropriate and recognised professional body.

感 恩
感謝神在過往一年讓我擔任晨光關懷協會的
會長，自覺不配，但當中卻有很多學習的機會。
回想我在十多年前回應神全時間事奉的呼召，我
實在想不到有一天我會參與一項對華人教會和社
區極重要和富意義的事工。在2010年，相信是神安排的機會，我和太太被邀擔任晨光感恩晚宴
的司儀；隨年我成為會員及管理委員會成員。
我為何在晨光事奉呢?
“耶和華已指示你何為善，
他向你所要的是甚麼呢？
只要你行公義，好憐憫，
存謙卑的心，與你的神同行。”
(彌 6:8)
作為基督徒，我們對世人的服侍不單單限於
教會的「四道牆」內。我們還應主動關心四圍需
要主的愛和憐憫的人。要達到這目標，我們不單
要靠著所傳講的福音，更要有愛人如己的行動。
基督徒關心社會，不是可有可無的事工，它反映
了我們新的身份，就是那愛世人的神的形象，在
我們裡被復原。
感謝神祂賜給晨光每一位管理委員會的成員
都是敬虔、滿有恩賜、謙卑、委身、以人為本，
最重要的是以耶穌的心為心，更願受聖靈的帶
領。神如何在我們各人身上呼召我們到晨光服
侍，而我們又如何忠心卻又帶著戰兢的回應，各
人背後有不同的故事。但我們同都可以同證，神
如何感動並改造多人的生命，包括在晨光服侍的
一眾同工。
事 工
今年四月，晨光邀請了余德淳博士在不同的
地點帶領一連串的講座。而今年的焦點當然是
我們二十週年的感恩暨籌款晚宴。為神多次適
時的供應，我們獻上讚美。不單讓我們再次肯
定這事工，更確信祂是那位感動人心在各層面
事奉的主。
教牧更新事工已進入第四年。很多全時間事
奉的牧者、宣教士、在機構事奉的、神學生，
以及他們的配偶，都受惠於晨光的輔導和教育
項目。

求主賜我們:
• 對華人社會輔導的需要有敏銳的洞見；• 繼續尋求神的心意和帶領；• 忠心以三語回應神對服侍華人群體的召命；• 更多委身的專業基督徒輔導員、培訓員、 支援的同工、會員以及管理委員會會員；
• 更有果效的事工；• 為主作好見證；• 領人歸主的機會
“我們主耶穌基督的父神是應當稱頌的；他
是憐憫之父，是賜各樣安慰的神；在我們所遭遇
的各樣患難中，他都安慰我們，使我們能夠藉着
神用以安慰我們自己的安慰，去安慰那些在各樣
患難中的人。”

Evelene is at present based overseas but continues to provide clinical psychological and counselling services via internet calls to fee-paying non-Medicare clients, inside and outside Australia.
Special Concession: Counselling fees for the first two sessions will be charged at a special rate of $55 per session, until further notice. If you have difficulty paying the fee, you may apply for subsidy.
You may speak to Evelene from your own home/location if you have access to the internet for Skype, WhatsApp or WeChat calls. It may incur phone or data costs.

The Circle of Security program is an internationally recognised parenting course based on decades of
parent-child attachment research. While focusing on infants and young children, it is suitable for parents of children of all ages. This six-session (two hours each session) course is practical skills-based, using video clips, discussion and handouts to explore children’s emotional needs and build parents’ ability to respond sensitively to those needs, aiming at building a loving and secure relationship with your child.
Dr Yixin Jiang Xu is a registered Circle of Security Parenting Facilitator who runs this course for you. Yixin was born in Shanghai and grew up in Sydney after migrating to Australia in 1993. She completed her PhD in 2016 from
the University of Sydney, and also holds a Bachelor of Psychology (Honours). Yixin has a particular interest in family relationships from an attachment theory perspective. She has also published in peer-reviewed scientific journals and presented her research at both national and international conferences. Yixin is married to David. They have a daughter and currently attend St Paul’s Anglican Church in Carlingford, NSW.
