    My teaching in Cebu Bible Seminary the main work I came to Cebu to do began

    November 5, 1984, at the beginning of t he sec ond semester of th e 1984-85 school yea r. I

    taught three courses: Life of Christ IV, Epistl es II, an d Holy Spirit. Some of my classes

    we re in what used to be th e living room of th e old pre-w ar Missi on H ou se no w also Ra y

    Carl so n s office on cam pu s. In the new s ch oo l year, just beginning, 1 am tea ching Life of

    Christ I, Epistles III Hebrews), an d Person of Christ. We are expecting several new students.

    The Feeding Program is one of the really g oo d things h ap pen in g here. Several of ou r

    church ladies have led in this ministry. Once e ac h week at nine church locations the children

    are given a simple but nourishing meal. Before they eat, the children are taught Gospel songs

    an d have Bible classes. There is also a class for any adults present. Results have included

    increased

    attendance at th e Lord s Day services of th e c hu rc he s a nd m an y responses to th e

    i nv it at io n to a cc ep t C hr is t. 1 have preached in some of these locations an d have seen co n

    fessions of faith followed by immersion in th e sea, resulting from th e Feeding Program. In

    response to the appeal for clothing, Canby Christian Church in Oregon sent boxes of

    clothing an d the Junior Church an d ot he rs in West S ea tt le C hr is ti an C hu rc h have s en t

    money which has been used for purchasing clothing an d has been given to th e children.

    Th is is a p ro gr am whi ch is helping to meet a need an d is see

    ing results in additions to the L ord s chur ch.

    to me since

    coming

    here to Cebu was th e visit in February to Candelaria a sma ll

    barangay in Leyte. T hi s is t he home place of the Bojos family.

    Doroteo Boj os, one of the local preachers in Cebu City,

    suggested that we go there to conduct a short evangelistic

    meeting. We agreed that we s ho ul d t ak e f ou r CBS students:

    D om in go Bojos Teo s nephew), Eliezer May ak i, P ed jet o

    Panoy an d Arnulfo Amamangpang. 1 preached four times.

    Th e s tu de nt s were at work in t ea ch in g classes, l ea din g in

    home Bible studies an d leading th e music. Eight were

    baptized into Christ during the t hree days, partly the result

    of t he CB S students efforts at teaching an d witnessing.

    there is Ilongo. At that time I was asked by the brethren from Tomina to come to their

    place for a conference.

    The conference in Tomina occurred in April. Getting there involved hiking about three

    miles on a very slippery, muddy trail. This program, as well as the Christmas conference in

    Guiljungan, was planned by Simon Labrado, an evangelist with whom I haveworked before.

    The brethren from Tomina carried in Simon's movie projector and generator. Most of our

    luggage was carried on carabao sleds. The format of the evening evangelistic program was;

    movie; music preaching, and invitation; second movie. I preached the opening night and was

    overjoyed to see 13 respond to the invitation. They were immersed the next morning. During

    the following two days, ten more were immersed into Christ, some making their confessions

    of faith at the creek rather than wait for the next preaching. I also lectured on giving and

    t ithing during the afternoon session. Mornings there were classes for all age groups. The

    hospitality of the Tomina brethren was wonderful. Although I got very tired during the hike

    into Tomina, if invited again I will return.

    I

    attended

    my first

    Missionary Retreat

    in

    March

    in Baguio. This is

    an annual

    gathering

    of the American missionaries of our brotherhood from all over the Philippines. The fellow

    ship was great. It was good to see

    old friends and to meet some new ones. And, it was good

    to feel the coolness and smell the pine trees of the mile-high city. I noticed the willingness of all to share what isgoing

    on in their areas and in their works, and I appreciated it.

    The permit to operate my amateur radio arrived. My cal l here is KD7ZA/DU7, KD7ZAportable DU7, show

    ing that I am an American operating in The Philippines. 1 am now finishing the preparations for transmitting with

    the radio and will soon have a beam antenna which may allow me to talk to amateurs in America. I intend to be on

    the air on Wednesdays at 1300-1330Z (6:00 a.m. PDT) at 14.23 MHzI'll be happy to talk to YOU

    It is good to be here in Cebu Often I cometo about where I am and how fortunate 1am to be herein this beau

    tiful par t of God s creation. It is a blessing to study God s Word with some fine Fil ipino young people who want to

    serve Him; and in having numerous opportunities to preach and see people respond to Christ. Thank you for making

    it

    possible fo r

    me

    to

    be here.

    Will you pray with me?

    praising God for His greatness, love, and mercy;

    thanking Him for letting me live and work here;

    that The Philippines will remain

    a free

    country;

    that the Christian brethren here will remain strong

    in their faith;

    that needed improvements in curriculum, facili

    ties, and staff for Cebu Bible Seminary will be sup

    plied;

    that additional funds and workers will be supplied

    for the Feeding Program;

    that the Cebu Bible Seminary Board of Trustees

    w be successful in its plans to establish goals for

    years ahead and in its efforts to reach those goals;

    t h a t I will be o d s m ana n d t h a t I will h a v e

    patience to relate properly to the people here.

    I Thank you each one for your interest, love, con

    cern, and prayer for me and my work.

    So we put together t h i s attempt.

    Leo

    and Delivery of Sermons; Doroteo

    Bojos taught Personal Evangelism;

    Ricarte Magsipoc taught Steward

    ship; I did a Bible Study on

    Philippians. The students sang

    and led the music. Evenings we

    had evangelis tic se rv ices.
