Sono sulla mia auto quando ad un tratto vedo in lontananza

un bagliore; curioso mi dirigo verso questa cosa sospesa davanti a me: una luce che mi attrae.Penso sia una disco volante, man mano che mi avvicino scandisco i colori fuxia e turchese ed un enorme occhio in trance come in preda ad una visione mi guarda; seguo un gruppo di motociclisti su dei chopper che entra in branco insieme ad altri freaks e beatniks a piedi. Solco l’ingresso e vengo subito travolto da immagini multicolore e da vibrazioni postive: il sound è molto cool, beat sixties, psichdelico. Entro in sala concerti e le pareti si sciolgono grazie ai proiettori con luci liquide. Una go-go dancer balla scatenata mentre una band scalpitante emana suoni lisergici. Davanti a me delle ragazze in fila passano con dei vestiti  che mi ricordano la Swinging London: wow, forse son stato trasportato indietro nel tempo e non me ne sono accorto?! Esco nel cortile e mi ritrovo in un mercatino che sembra uscito dal Paese delle Meraviglie popolato da creature troppo strane per vivere e troppo rare per morire: al mio rientro mi aspettano poster variopinti esposti sulle pareti… mi sento un po sperduto, mi siedo intontito, una coppia mi nota, si avvicina e mi domanda: “ehi, tutto ok?” Rispondo “si… ma dove sono?” “Rilassati, sei allo PsychOut Festival!”

I‘m on my car when suddenly I see a far away glare; curious

I direct to this suspended thing staying in font of me: an attracting light.I think it’s a flying saucer, step by step I scan fuchsia and turquoise colors and a huge in-a-trance eye stares at me; I follow a group of bikers on choppers going in with a bunch of freaks and beatniks by foot. I cut through the entrance and at once I am overwhelmed by multicolored pictures and good vibes: the sound is very cool, beat Sixties, psychedelic. I get into the concert hall and the walls melt down by liquid light projectors. A go-go dancer moves unchained while a raging band releases lysergic sounds. Some girls pass in front of me and their dresses remind me the Swinging London: wow, maybe I’ve been transported back in time and haven’t realize it?! I go out in the backyard and find myself into a market that looks like coming from Wonderland populated by creatures too weird to live and too rare to die: on my reentry I am expected by colorful posters on the walls… I feel a little bit out of place, so I sit dull, a couple gets close and ask: “Are you ok man?” I answer: “ Yes, I am… but where am I?” and they answer me back: “Easy man, you’re at PsychOut Festival!”.

Direttamente da Grenoble, le atmosfere che creano i due fratelli Yann & Julien sono quelle originali: il loro sound, caratterizzato dalla timbrica del classico

organo ‘60s, è come un hippie in “bad trip” stanco del motto Peace & Love. Garage e gotici allo stesso tempo con rimandi ad Arthur Brown, Iron Butterfly e Black Sabbath, presenteranno allo PsychOut Festival il loro album d’esordio prodotto dalla tedesca Soundflat Records.

ed hanno solcato i palchi di svariati festival in Italia ed all’estero. Quando suonano live sono semplicemente energiche: il loro sound garage punk misto a surf vitaminico sarebbe perfetto come colonna sonora per un b-movie di motociclette o per un film in stile Russ-Meyer.

Wanda ci mostrerà che i suoi spettacoli non sono i classici burlesque in stile anni ‘40/’50: lei balla insieme al mostro della

laguna nera, si agita a suono di shake come go-go dancer  ed arriva dallo spazio come Wandarella the Queen of the Galaxy! Trovate i suoi spettacoli nei maggiori festival sixties, r’n’r e burlesque show in tutta Europa: un personaggio simpatico e brillante le cui atmosfere ci portano ai film da drive-in.

Wanda will show us that her exhibitions are not the classical ‘40s-50’s-styled burlesque: she dances with the Creature from

the Black Lagoon, shake as a go-go dancer and comes from space as Wandarella the Queen of the Galaxy! She exhibited in the biggest sixties, r’n’r and burlesque festival all around Europe: a nice, brilliant character whose atmospheres bring you to the typical drive-in movies.

I vestiti di OPTICZOO mischiano la flora e la fauna,

gli optical, il sixties design, la psichedelia ed i pop poster tanto da fare un vestito ispirato al manifesto dello scorso PsychOut Festival, in un eclettismo di epoche e stili. Vestiti che formano figure o esclamazioni, alcuni fatti anche con tessuti vintage, così da creare vere e proprie installazioni da indossare. In prima assoluta vedremo sfilare i vestiti di Opticzoo sulla passerella dello PsychOut!

Opticzoo’s clothes mix flora and fauna, optical images, sixties

design, psychedelia and pop posters (they even made a dress inspired to the PsychOut Festival poster) into an eclecticism of epochs and styles. Garments making pictures or exclamations, some of them in real vintage fabrics, turning all into veritable dressing installations. We’ll see Opticzoo’s clothes première on PsychOut catwalk!

...a Zerbo sulle rive del fiume si giocava a fare Woodstock, mentre al Lambro nel ‘76 tutto era finito dietro a un pollo surgelato...” Così Eugenio

“...in Zerbo on the banks of the river it was used to act as in Woodstock, while in Lambro in ‘76

everything was ended behind a frozen chicken...” That’s how Eugenio Finardi describes in his song “Zerbo” the season of the pop festivals, the politics and the hippie dream in Italy. A period that ideally goes from ‘72 until ‘77, just a couple of years before the Moro kidnapping and the end of the italian protest started in ‘68 in the wake of the big international events. We’ll talk about music and its evolution from beat to prog, but above all about the choices done in the peninsula by the juvenile movement, godson of the american one. As always a “flashback” narrated through images and stories by Lele Roma and several guests who lived that period.

Finardi descrive nella canzone ”Zerbo” la stagione dei festival pop in Italia, della politica e del sogno hippie nostrano. Un periodo che va idealmente dal ‘72 al ‘77, appena un paio di anni prima del rapimento Moro e la fine della protesta in Italia iniziata nel ‘68 sulla scia dei grandi eventi internazionali. Si parlerà di musica e delle sue evoluzioni dal beat al prog, ma soprattutto di scelte fatte all’interno del movimento giovanile nella penisola, “figlioccio” di quello statunitense. Come sempre un “flashback” narrativo per immagini e storie raccontato da Lele Roma e da vari ospiti che vissero quel periodo.

I poster di Steuso hanno uno stile particolare che va dal punk rock al lato oscuro della psichedelia,

contornata di mistici suoni stoner, di puro r’n’r, dell’influenza californiana dei Firehouse di San Francisco, delle vecchie locandine punk fotocopiate anni ‘80 e dalla passione per la Lowbrow Art e la Kustom Kulture. Nel corso degli anni Steuso ha disegnato locandine per Queens Of The Stone Age, Tame Impala, Tom Waits, Radiohead, Napalm Death e tanti altri. Allo PsychOut esporrà un’accurata selezione delle sue opere. 

Steuso’s posters have a particular style going from punk rock to the dark side of psychedelia,

all decorated by mystic stoner sounds, pure r’n’r, the californian influence of the Firehouse from San Francisco, the old photocopied punk posters from the ‘80s and the passion for the Lowbrow Art and the Kustom Kulture. Over the years Steuso drew posters for Queens of the Stone Age, Tame Impala, Tom Waits, Radiohead, Napalm Death and many others. At the PsychOut he will exhibit an accurate selection of his works.
