YEARBOOK ‘14

Page 2: RGSL Yearbook 2014

On behalf of RGSL, I wish to congratulate you on receiving your diploma, which you have earned through hard work and dedication. Another year of studies has passed, and I trust that your time spent at RGSL has been stimulating and rewarding.

Now that you have completed your first course of studies at RGSL, we share your sense of accomplishment and invite you to join the RGSL alumni association. We look forward to seeing some of you again in a Master’s or PhD programme, and perhaps you will one day join our faculty as lecturer. Many of you will go your separate ways, pursuing your chosen careers. I am confident that you will succeed and can assure you that we will follow your professional developments with interest – always being keen to welcome you back to RGSL, whenever the occasion arises.

Sincerely,George Ulrich

RGSL rector

Riga Graduate School of Law is a unique school in the context of the region, funding, provided education, but even more in the context of its students and alumni. Our ambition is to offer education and research experience beyond borders by implementing interdisciplinary programmes, providing an international study experience, offering innovative collaboration projects and encouraging new research initiatives. However our main motivation what helps us to offer education beyond borders are our students. Coming from various backgrounds and having different experience you, our students, create an amazing atmosphere for the best study environment.

I am happy to congratulate you with the receiving your diploma. The Graduation Ceremony is not just about receiving a diploma, a piece of paper. This ceremony is about celebrating and acknowledging the many doors of opportunity that will be opened for you. No matter where your journey takes you from here, the education you have received has provided an excellent foundation for you on which to build. I know for many of you your journey so far has not always been easy, but you have persevered and you have achieved what you set out to do.

I wish you the very best of luck in your future. Congratulations to all of you. Enjoy this accomplishment.

Sincerely,Karīna Kulberga

RGSL director

I would like to congratulate all our Bachelor and Master programme graduates. Having joined the RGSL family, I encouraged you to draw as much benefit from the school as possible.

However, drawing such benefit is only possible on the basis your own hard work. Therefore, I hope you enjoyed your time here, but also worked as hard as you could with us. For the hardworking graduates, the world is full of opportunities. One excellent opportunity will be to remain with us – for your Masters and later your PhD.

Sincerely,Peter Gjotler

Bachelor Programme Director,Associate Professor

This was one of the toughest periods in my life that required lots of planning, self discipline and many times - stepping outside my comfort zone. But, at the same time, it was one of the greatest experiences that has greatly enriched me both - personally and professionally, the adventure I would never change for anything else. Therefore, I would like to say thank you to everyone - RGSL, my great classmates from L&F, family and friends.

Studies at RGSL are unforgetable. They brought a lot of fun, new insights and chance to meet wonderful people. Something to miss and at the same time remember today, tomorrow and forever!

Change is good. Change is what keeps on our toes, and allows us to look objectivly at ourselves and understand ourselves in a completely new light. Graduating this school is a major change in your lives, in fact, it may be considered as one of those last steps that have to be taken for you to be considered to have come of age.

In these three years you have fought hard, and you have succeded in reaching the goals that you have set out to do. You have pushed yourselves, and learned how to sacrifice your time for a long-term goal, and I assure you, all the effort will have a magnanimos result. You’re going to get back as much work as you put in, and even more.

On behalf of the Riga Graduate School of Law SA, I would like to extend to you our congradulations. Many of you have set an incredible example for all current and future RGSL students, but all of you are have contributed to the school and to the community. Take the values that this school has given you, and show the world what you’re made of, but never forget what this school gave you. Once in a while take take some to visit the Wallenberg building, as you are and forever will be part of this family - the RGSL Family.
