BENEFITS
RSLogix programming products are designed to help increase your productivity.
FLEXIBLE, EASY-TO-USE EDITORS
• Flexible program editors allow you to create application
programs without worrying about getting the syntax correct. The Project Verifier builds a list of errors that you cannavigate to make corrections at your convenience.
• Powerful run-time editing features permit modifications of your application program while the process is still operating. The Test Edits feature allows you to test the operation of your modification before it becomes a permanent part of the application program.
• Drag-and-drop editing gives you the ability to move or copy instructions from rung to rung within a project or from rungsin one subroutine or project to another, or move and copy data table elements from one data file to another. In addition,
you can move program elements between the RSLogix 5,RSLogix 500, and RSLogix 5000 programming packages.
DIAGNOSTIC AND TROUBLESHOOTING TOOLS
When troubleshooting and application, quick and accurateinformation is critical. RSLogix 500 is designed to maketroubleshooting complex problems easier than ever before.
Advanced Diagnotics
A powerful searching tool, Advanced Diagnostics allows youto quickly locate the specific area in your project that is causing a problem. Using page titles in your ladder logic, Advanced
Diagnostics locates output instructions in a particular section of your logic, then jumps to the rung associated with each output.Diagnosing the interaction between output instructionsbecomes easy and efficient by viewing them at the same time.
Custom Data Monitors
Each application project you create can have its own CustomData Monitor (CDM) that can be configured to simultaneously examine the status of different data types (bits, timers, counters, inputs, outputs).
Multiple Data Views
Program files in RSLogix 500 can be viewed as multiple ladderlogic files in a tabbed window, in individual windows foreach program file, or in any combination of the two.Application logic can also be viewed simultaneously with theAddress/Symbol Database, multiple data table monitors, orCustom Data Monitors. Status bit settings specific to your
application (such as Scan Time, Math Register, and Interrupts)can be easily reviewed with tabbed Status displays.
Compare
Compare enables you to find differences between twoapplication programs. This utility detects inserted, deleted, moved, and modified ladder rungs and differences in datatable content and size. This function also offers variousconfigurations: online vs. offline, offline vs. online, andonline vs. online. When comparing, you can choose to:
• View by exception
• Detect relay ladder logic (RLL) differences
• Detect data table differences
You can view the differences graphically in a side-by-side view or as a report.
Cross-Reference
Using this online tool, you can easily move to the rung orinstruction you desire by clicking on the referenced item inthe cross-reference view.

Histogram
Use this tool to view information about how data values changeover time. If you frequently log certain data, you can save thehistogram configuration as part of your RSLogix 500 projectand load it whenever you need to view the data.
Trend
Use this tool to view information about multiple data values overtime. Save the trend as part of your RSLogix 500 project and run
it whenever you need to view the data, debug your project, ortroubleshoot a particular section of code.
POWERFUL, TIMESAVING FEATURESAND FUNCTIONALITY
Compatibility
Projects developed with DOS programming packages fromRockwell Software – A.I. Series, 6200 Series, APS, and MPS –can be moved to the RSLogix environment simply by opening the existing project with the appropriate RSLogix package.Conversely, it is just as easy to move a project developed withRSLogix to any of the DOS programming packages.
Context Menus
Context Menus for common software tools are quickly accessibleby right-clicking on addresses, symbols, instructions, rungs, orother application objects. This convenience provides you with allthe necessary functionality to accomplish a task within a singlemenu, saving you the aggravation of remembering the placementof functionality options in the menu bar.
Key Board Based Editing
If you prefer to develop and navigate with the keyboard ratherthan the mouse, RSLogix 500 supports 35 Dot (Portal)Commands.
Auto-Address Wizard
The Auto-Address Wizard significantly speeds you throughthe creation of rungs and reduces keying errors. As you typean address, a list of symbols and data file types pop up andmatches the text you have entered. You can select a symbolor data file type from the list.
If you select a data file type, the wizard leads you through
creating an address using the next available data file element. If you don’t want to select from the pop-up list, you can simply enter your own address. The Auto-Address Wizard functionsmuch like IntelliSense™ by providing:
• Current symbols matching the characters entered
• Next available element in an existing data file of thecharacters entered
• Next available element in a new data file of thecharacters entered
Extensive Online Help
If you do not understand an RSLogix function or have aquestion concerning a processor instruction, you can accessthe comprehensive online Help system and PLC instructionreference. The Help system even includes step-by-step
instructions to lead you through many common activities.
