Christ is born! Let us Glory Him! Sunday, December 25 Nativity of Our Lord
his glory with the shepherds,* the wise men jour-ney with the star,* for there is born for us an in-fant child, God Eternal. Instead of ‘Holy God..’: All you, who have been baptized into Christ, have put on Christ. Alleluia! Prokimen, tone 8: Let all the earth worship and sing praise to You:* sing praise to Your Name. Verse: Shout joyfully to God, all you on earth,
sing praise to the glory of his name;* proclaim
his glorious praise.
Epistle: A reading from the Letter of the Holy Apostle Paul to the Galatians (4: 4 - 7) Brothers and Sisters! When the designated time had come, God sent forth his Son born of a woman, born under the law, to deliver from the law those who were subjected to it, so that we might receive our status as adopted sons. The proof that you are sons is the fact that God has sent forth into our hearts the spirit of his Son, which cries out "Abba!" (“Father!”) You are no longer a slave but a son! And the fact that you are a son makes you an heir, by God's design.
Alleluia Verses: The heavens declare the glory
of God* and the firmament proclaims his handi-
work.
Day pours out the word to day,* and night to
night imparts knowledge.
Gospel: Matthew 2:1-12 Instead of ‘Indeed, it is fitting’: My soul, praise Christ the King* born in a cave.* Behold a strange and wonderful mystery:* the cave has become heaven,* the Virgin a throne of the Cherubim,* and the manger a noble place where Christ our God reposes.* Wherefore let us praise and exalt Him!
Instead of "Blessed is He...", “We have seen...", "May our mouths...", "Blessed be the name...": The whole universe is today filled
with joy, for Christ is born of a Virgin.
Communion Hymn: The Lord has sent salva-tion to his people. Alleluia! Alleluia! Alleluia!
Sunday, December 25, Nativity of Our Lord Jesus Christ
First Antiphon: I will confess You with all my heart, O Lord,* I will tell all your marvels. Through the prayers of the Mother of God, O Savior, save us.
In the counsels of rightful men and in the as-semblies,* great are the works of the Lord. Through the prayers of the Mother of God, O Savior, save us. They are sought* in order to accomplish his will. Through the prayers of the Mother of God, O Savior, save us. Glory be ... now and forever.. . : Only Begotten Son .... Third Antiphon: The Lord said to my Lord:* Sit at my right hand till I make your enemies your footstool. Christmas Tropar, Tone 4: Your birth, O Christ our God* has shed upon the world the light of knowledge,* for through it, those who wor-shipped the stars* have learned from a star to worship You, the Sun of Justice,* and to recog-nize You as the Orient from on high.* Glory be to You, O Lord!
The scepter of your power the Lord will stretch forth from Zion:* Rule in the midst of your enemies. Your birth, O Christ....
Yours is princely power in the day of your birth in holy splendor. Your birth, O Christ. ... At the 'small entrance': Before the daystar, like the dew, I have begotten you. The Lord has sworn, and he will not repent; You are a priest forever, according to the order of Melchizedek.
Christmas Tropar, Tone 4: Your birth, O Christ. ... Glory be to the Father and to the Son and to the
Holy Spirit, now and forever and ever. Amen.
Kondak of Christmas, tone 3: Today the Virgin gives birth to Perfect Essence,* and the earth of-fers a cave to the Inaccessible.* The angels sing

Bethlehem Peace Light On December 18th Plast (Ukrainian
Youth Association of Winnipeg)
brought the Bethlehem Peace Light
to our Parish. If you wish to take the
flame to your home to share with
your family on Christmas Eve,
please bring a long-burning candle
or lantern. The flame is in the can-
dle in front of the Nativity of our
Lord Jesus Christ Icon.
During the most recent Parish Council
Meeting a motion was made to establish a
Greeters/Usher position for our Parish.
The responsibility will be once per month on the same
Sunday of each month. We are looking for couples, fami-
lies and individuals who are willing to make this commit-
ment to greet parishioners and guests. We would like to
start this set schedule as soon as possible. Those who are
interested would attend a meeting where responsibilities
would be outlined and the schedule discussed. Please
contact Father Bashutskyy if you are interested. Thank-
you to all Parishioners who have been fulfilling this role
for the past few months. Your dedication is appreciated!
DEAR PARISHIONERS, FRIENDS AND GUESTS! Our First Bishop Blessed Nykyta Budka established the practice of the “Dar Lubovy -
Gift of Love” as a way for the Ukrainian Catholic faithful in Canada to express their appre-
ciation to their pastors and bishop during the Christmas and Easter seasons.
The traditional "Christmas Offering for the Clergy" envelope you will find in your
donation box (yellow color). Traditionally, this is given at the first collection at each Christ-
mas service. Thank-you for your generous gift of love.
Blessed Virgin Mary Parish Annual General Meeting will be taking place on Sunday,
January 29, 2017 starting at 2:00 pm. A nominating committee has been formed to seek
those who are interested in positions on the Parish Council Executive (Chair, Recording Sec-
retary, Treasurer, Financial Secretary, Financial Officers) and various Committees (Opening
Envelopes, Maintenance, Cleaning of Candles, Rental of Church Auditorium). If you are in-
terested in one of these positions, please contact: Syvlia Romanchuk at 204-339-3316, Mary
Hull at 204–582-1505 or Father Bashutskyy at 204-582-7535.
MERRY CHRISTMAS! Traditional Ukrainian Christmas Greetings (Vinchuvannia)
May you find peace, joy, and health for yourself,
your family, your children, and your farm animals; May you be as healthy as the spring waters,
May you be as cheerful as the swallows in the sky, May your home never be hungry,
And may it be as prosperous as the fields of grain at harvest time, And as full as the beehives are with honey,
And the orchards are ripe with fruit. We wish you all this, and may we come together next year
to greet and wish each other again.
CHRIST IS BORN! LET US GLORY HIM!
