E. WASH FILM STUDIO PROJECTSummer, 2016E

Project GoalStudents were assigned to complete serises of design inspired by the concept of makerspace. Final persentation includes concept drawings, archtectural model, site plans , floor plans and elevations.

Design ConceptE. Washington Film Studio is designed to be a multi-functional community center that enable the community to enjoy movies as well as the film production process.

HARMONIZING THE ELEMENTSFALL, 2016H Design Goal

To design a living room of a luxury apartment in a historic building in New York City. The design should focus on the mixture of historical and modern feeling and a historical timeline should be used throughout the adesign process.

Design ConceptThe historical line used in the design has been chosen to be Art Deco style to echo the exterior of the building built in 1907. Luxury

historical atmosphere will be created with elements of geometrical shapes and gold color motifs.

Bright colors are applied to express the excitement of the city, as well as bring sense of lively into the interior space. Furniture is kept in upscale sense of style but simple as well to make the art pieces jump out in exciting colors.

PRESCHOOL LAB LOBBYFALL, 2016 Group ProjectP Design Goal

Re-design the main lobby of the SOHE Preschool Lab, which serves as a multi-function place for parents, children, and teacher’s break and meeting place. The Layout

By using the 3-Form room divider, we devided the lobby into two areas, the waiting area near the window and the working area near the staircase. In this way, teacher can have their own working area with sense of privacy by access to the outter world as well.

Design Concept

Instead of using the traditional primary colors in kindergartens, we chose the relatively calm colors in our design, which can offer the teach-ers a peaceful environment that they can have a good rest after half day’s hard work.

This is a real-life commercial project that we have received suggestions, concerns, feedback and comments from the real users of the place. This helped me to develope the communication skill in the design process and understand how design being finalized trough feedbacks.

Waht I Did

In this four person group project, I was mainly in charge of the visual communication of the design. By making a fully developed SketchUp file, we were able to present our design that is easier for the clients to understand. To obtain better effect, I self-taught the V-Ray for SketchUp and applied it to our perspectives.
