Fire Alarm – Code Red

• Know the closest exit to your working area. Signs are posted inside all classrooms and offices to direct you to the closest exit.

• If you have a student or colleague with a disability make sure you know how to assist this person to exit the building. Flashing alarms are also installed in key areas of the college to assist hearing impaired staff and students.

• When the alarm sounds, immediately exit the building in an orderly manner and get away from the building, so that fire trucks can have unimpeded access to the building.

• Fire Marshals (wearing red baseball caps) are responsible for making sure everyone has exited the building. Students and staff will be allowed back into a building only after the Fire Marshal has declared it safe.

• For more information on Fire Alarm systems and evacuation procedures please refer to your red Occupant Fire Safety Plan or go to: http://insite/human_resources/ohs/fire.asp
