Preface | 前言

Dear Valued HR Leaders and Career Movers,

A company’s success can only be achieved through its own staff. But is it reallynecessary to further develop your internal staff’s skills in the markets of today, and moreover, is it worth the money and time that you invest?

In this workshop, we go over the basic principles of culture and cultural awareness. The participants

then sketch their own cultural profile and work on case studies and cases from their own work

experience, analyzing them for cultural sub context. Peer feedback and reviews help the participants

There is always and still space to improve and leverage on the hidden potential underneath in Chinese-German collaborations, regardless whether you are working in a well or newly established one, for start-up or market leader. One of the main keys is Chinese-German Cross-cultural competency.In this workshop, each individual and all participants will be able to share, reflect and scale theirown experiences and frequent occurring issues in CN-G-cooperation under guidance of an experienced facilitator in a discrete environment. employee takes over their first leadership role. The participants then sketch their own leadership

Conflicts are everywhere, and there is no exception in the work of multinational enterprises. Some conflicts develop from small too big or from obscure to obvious. Due to being handled or conditions changed, some conflicts are gradually resolved. The conflicts in the workplace are diverse, some conflicts affect the inter-personal relationshipsbetween colleagues, which in turn affect the cooperationquality and quality of work, and even affect people's physical and mental health. By understanding the causes of the occurrence of conflicts, the causes of the escalation of conflicts, the internal mechanism of escalation, as well as the abnormal mentality and abnormal behavior that people are likely to have when once involved in a conflict, by improving the sensitivity to (cross-cultural) conflict,we can adjust our bodies and minds, avoid unnecessary behaviors that might upgrade conflicts.We can have a rational attitude in the face of conflict and discuss the strategy to resolve conflicts.In the two days of the course “Intercultural Conflict Management - German and Chinese Perspectives”, we will regard national culture characteristics as references, consider the premise of the other influence factors and begin with intercultural thinking in order to deeply analyze the basic causes of the conflicts, the characteristics of conflict behaviors and thinking and together explore how to go beyond the traditional communication modes and makethe staff in the cross-cultural team more competentwhen working with others.

Manual labor times are one of the most important cost drivers in many industrial processes. The

German REFA methodology provides a valuable set of tools and methods to manage these labor

times. In this course, the students learn how to analyze and measure process times (times studies).

In a second step, theory and practice of setting contingency allowances for personal needs, fatigue,

and delays are discussed. Finally, the method of work sampling is introduced as a powerful tool to

Mr. McArthur is a Professional Facilitator & Coach. During his 15 years being based in China, he has trained thousands of executives and staff around Asia and in China. Mr. Tilman Rieger

With nearly 15 years of human resources and 10 years of international leadership experience, mainly

in the automotive industry, Tilman left his job as HR Director of General Motors Europe in 2013 to

become a freelancer and entrepreneur. To pursue his own self-development and further build his

training and coaching skill sets, he began investing over 600 training hours in business coaching,

non-violent communication and business mediation. In 2015, he moved to China as a Leadership

Coach, Senior Consultant and Workshop Facilitator.

Today, Tilman passionately designs, conducts, and facilitates leadership training and workshops for

both managers and associates across different business fields and cultural backgrounds. He also

works as a certified executive coach, with particular expertise in transactional analysis, compassionate

communication (also known as non-violent communication) and cross-cultural management.

He is the President of the Shanghai Coaching Circle, and an active member of China’s strongest

public speaking club: Shanghai Leadership Toastmasters Club.

Tilman holds degrees in Personnel Management & Economy as well as a Master's in Educational

Science, Psychology and Sociology.

He is of German and U.S. nationality, and has lived, studied, and/or worked in Chicago, Frankfurt,

London, Paris, Madrid, Zürich and now Shanghai. He is fluent in German, English and Spanish, and

proficient in French and Mandarin.

Ms. Julie Marx

Ms. Julie Marx has been working in China as a consultant, trainer and manager

for over five years. She is currently office manager for CWS Consulting, a

German consultancy with subsidiaries in Shenyang, China, and San Luis Potosí,

Mexico, specialised in production and logistics consulting services for the

automotive industry. Her work focuses on office management and in-house

training. Ms. Marx has a background in languages applied to business (with

a degree from La Rochelle University, France) and holds an MBA from FOM

Munich in Germany. She is quadrilingual and gives trainings in English,
