If he did not inform the where abouts of presentPWG Nizamabad district secretarym Azad, Haribhushan also dis-closed that the police Department already decided to killA.Bhoomaiah, state convener, Telangana Jana Sabha which will beexcused if he co-operates with the police in searching for Azad.

Telangana Jana Sabha would like to appeal to all of the Demo-crats, intellectuals, proffessionals and people of different walks oflife, mass-organisations, human rights, civil rights organisations inthe state and all over the country to condemn the threats of surren-dered naxalites at the instance of police and the State Governmentby issuing press-statements, writing to the Chief Minister and theHon'ble Governor of request all of you to lead to delegation at theChief Minister and Governor of A.P. in this matter because this typeof threats proved to be true last year in the case of Belly Lalitha, aprominent singer, artist and Co-convener of Telangana Kala Samithi,an affiliate of Telangana Jana Sabha.

As all of us know pretty well that the Region of Telangana is themost backward area with a population of 3 crores comprising met-ropolitan city like Hyderabad and having abundant resources ofwater, coal, forest and all other raw materials. The Telangana region

file chargesheet in time even though the culprits admitted the crimeto have committed and released them. Thereafter these criminalsbecame professional killers and also murdered a personKARUNAKAR who was a close relative of Belli Lalitha and awriter.

The State Government and the police foisted many false casesagainst the activists if Telangana Janasabha, Telangana Kalasamithiand Telangana Student Front. In Karimnagar, Warangal, Adilabad,Nizamabad, Medak, Mahboobnagar and Ranga Reddy Districts, hundreds of activists were charged with false allegations. NagarajuEx.T.S.F. Convenor was pressurised to resign and Jahangir Ex.TKSConvenor was also pressurised to resign at the threat of killing them. The police department also tried to kill A.Bhoomaiah in his nativevillage, Kachapur of Karimnagar District, in April 1999. He wasimplicated in a murder case in 1974 which was resulted in acquittalin 1978, now after 22 years of the acquittal of the case, the policetried to instigate the relatives of the then deceased person againstA.Bhoomaiah and asked them if they had still any grudge the policewould help in taking the revenge. But since that was a wrong casethose relatives flatly denied the proposal of police. In that way theirattempt was misfired. Presently the decision of police to killA.Bhoomaiah is fresh threat.

A.Bhoomaiah, Telangana Janasabha State Convenor is a targetfor police for his activity in the cause of Telangana. This is disclosedby Haribhushan while threatening Sri T.Sudharshan.

T.Sudharshan, Nizamabad District TJS Convenor hasbeen threat-ened of life if he did not inform the whereabouts of Azaad byHaribhushan who came along with a mufti police on 25.7.2000. On28th and 29th of July, 2000 he also made telephone calls toSudharshan threatening and asking him to come over Hyderabad tomeet the police officials which was denied by him.

Sri S.Thirupathi Reddy was threatened by a surrendered naxalitein the name of Rupa who telephoned to his father-in-law many times.

Kotha Ramireddy Janasabha Warangal District Committee mem-ber was also threatened by surrendered naxalites at the investiga-tion of Warangal Police to kill if he didnot stop his organisationalactivities.

Narra Purushotham, State Committee Member, TJS Editor, JanaTelangana, Kusuma Jagadeeshwar of Warangal District TelanganaJanasabha were implicated in the murder case of Ex.Mandal Presi-

is in the position of jeopardy. In 1956 according to the agreement ofgentlemen, the two regions were formed in to a state of AndhraPradesh. No single norm of that gentlemen agreement was imple-mented. Backwardness of Telangana increased day by day.

All the natural resources of Telangana were explored and ex-ploited by the industrialists and capitalists of Andhra Region whocame before the formation of the state and subsequently. Irrigationwas gone down to 4.00 lakh acres from 12.00 lakh acres from1956 to 2000. In the state now there are 16.00 lakhs of employeesin which the proportionate share of Telangana was atleast 6 lakhs. But now in Telangana there are hardly 2 lakhs employees. 4 lakhsof Telangana jobs are unlawfully occupied by Andhra people.Andhra pre-dominant Government had never shown minimum in-terest in developing Telangana except looting the Region for theirprofits. Telangana political leaders were also ignorant and they neverbothered about the development of Telangana. It becomes the pri-mary duty of the civilised government to uplift the backward areasin its administrative units. Following this type of exploitation the peopleof Telangana rose against the depression in 1968 and laid downtheir valuable lives. Youth and students of Telangana tuning upto400 were killed by the state and central Governments. The issue ofsmaller states came again into Agenda in 1996. Therefrom the move-ment gained momentum. Rallies, Dharnas, Meetings were conducted, thousands of people caught the slogan and came on roads. Severalorganisations formed to pursue the popular demand of separateState-hood for Telangana. Some of the political leaders once againtried to utilise the movement for their personal and political ends. Atthat historic junctrue, intellectuals, professionals, officials and peopleof different sections unitedly formed Telangana Janasabha so thatthis movement once again should not face sabotage. Right from itsinception the Government and the police resorted to threaten theactivists of this organisation. Firstly the state started a mispropogandathat Janasabha had links with out-lawed organisations in the state.Janasabha formed cultural organisation named Telangana Kalasamithi and Telangana Student Front to pursue the cause and tomobolise different sections of the people.

In Bhongir of Nalgonda district a pominent singer Belli Lalithawas threatened by the S.I. Dy.S.P. of Bhongir to kill her if she con-tinued to work and sing for Telangana cause. Ultimately the Gov-ernment got her killed by its hired goondas who were surrenderednaxalits. Her body was mutilated into 17 parts. The police could not

The Fate of Telangana Iran became Eluru

Andhra Friends of our organisation in which we worked togetheruntill recent times used to call the city of Hyderabad as Iran evenupto 1980s. When they arrive by bus or train from coastal Andhra orRayalaseema, to call an auto or Rickshaw or taxi they had to talk inbutler Hindi or Urdu which was a strange situation for them. Thy feltas if there were in the Capital of Iran instead of Andhra Pradesh.Every where the has to see Irani Hotels. Muslims and Hyderabadispeaking Telangana people which was their original dialect are foundin the cities of Hyderabad and Secunderabad. Now the scene hadchanged. Hardly within 2 decades internal colonisation took a steadypace from Coastal andhra and rayalaseema regions to Hyderabadand Telangana. one can witness now every where tiffin centres.Darshinis, Idli Buddies, people as Auto drivers and Rickshaw pullersAnd constrction labour also can be seen speaking coastal Andhra,Rayala Seema dialect. In the city of Hyderabad, People who roamaround the roads, highways are mostly Andhra Peopla and the ve-hicles which cause a terrific problem are of Andhra Middle and upperclass people. It look place in a gradual manner of-course deliberatelyand in a planned way. Let us see how internal colonisation took placein telangana especially in the cities of Hyderabad and secuderabad inRangareddy districts.

First the migration of Farmers was promoted by the officials un-der Nizam Rule'who were from Madras ptovince, mostly AndhraPeople who worked under British resident commissioner by manipu-lating the Nizam and his royal family members. The migration werefrom Krishna, Guntur District to Nizamsagar Dam area. In Nizamabaddistrict native farmers were poor, they could not afford to invest withthe modern farming. Farmers who sold their small land-holding inCoastal area could buy big holdings of hundreds of acres and theybecame landlords. For example Mandava Venkateshwara Rao's fam-ily in Nizamabad district migrations were taken place to the district

dent, Hasanparthi occured in 1999 for their involvement in TelanganaJanasabha and other mass organisations. We demand for withdrawalof the false murder cases.

All these so-called surrendered naxalites and the police depart-ment at the iniviative of the state government only they are resortingto such threats, mainly to supress the Telangana statehood move-ment all the activits are being threatened to life by Andhra Pre-domi-nant Government of CM Chandrababu naidu. This type of killingpolicies are worth condemning by all sections of the people. Thissocial, democratic and mass movements have to be allowed in acivic society. Through these social movements only justice will bedone to the people and the regions of the country.

So we expect life threats to following activists and request you toraise voice in different fora.

    1. A.Bhoomaiah, State convenor, Telangana Janasabha is also ateacher putting 27 years of service and also served the teachingcommunity a state level secretary for the last 20 years.

    2. T.Sudharshan, Telangana Janasabha Nizamabad Districtconvenor who is also a postal employee with 20 years of servicehaving served postal employees organisation for the last 15 years.

    3. S.Thirupathi Reddy, State Committee member TelanganaJanasabha who is also a hostel warden in Karimnagar district forlast 10 years and an office bearer of Wardens Association.

    4. Kotha Ramireddy is also a farmer having served the TelanganaJanasabha with a high reputation among farmers in Warangal Dis-trict.

In the circumstances stated above we request to all of the intel-lectuals, himan rights and civil rights leaders to lead a high level del-egation to the Chief Minister and Governor of Andhra Pradesh inthis issue. You are also requested to move the issue in all other con-cerned Fora. We request the people to come out professing againstthe state oppression.

    with kind regards,Yours sincerely,

    (AKULA BHOOMAIAH)

people through housing boards and other private societies constructed150 colonies in the city fof which water is supplied from Manjira andsingoor which were meant for irrigation facilities for the people ofMedak district. Surroundings of the twin cities and Medak districtalso are filled with industrail affluents, ground water is poisoned, pol-lution has become most hazardous order of the day in the city.

Film studios are established with the land on cheaper rates andwith abundant subsidies given by the Government. Like wise pressand other media business is flourished. Andhra people caught hold ofevery key business in the city and Telangana districts. Constructioncontracts have become privete properties for Andhra andRayalaseema contractors. Then started humiliation of the so calldmuch talked to Telangana accent and Hyderabad innocent, sweet,heart-touching homely dialect of Telangana by the hony- tipped, sword-like cunning coastal Andhra dialect. Telangana people are now them-selves shamed of talking their own native accent. They have to scareabout lest anybody is hearing to them. Now on the main roads, areas, corners of the city the Costal Andhra culture of Godavari districts isprevailing. Once looked, felt like Iran for Andhra people the city ofHyderabad now became just like Eluru to derelict the fate of Telanganapeople whose very presence is not tolerated by Andhra Eliee andmiddle class even.

Migration in the employment is enhanced from 15% to 30% innon-local quota. After a decade or so, if a separate state-hood is notaccorded, not only the existance but also the very signs of Telanganaculture may not appear. It is time for all the organisations, personali-ties to come together and form a united front to promote and pursue, fight for the cause of statehood for Telangana region. The struggleshould be not only for state-hood but for a democratic Telangana.

In the given positive situation of formation of the three new statesin the country by the NDA Government blossomed hopes and aspira-tions of the people of Telangana also which is the proper time to raiseup to the occasion for the three crore people of Telangana.

of Nalgonda-Mahaboobnagar was some-what natural process be-cause they are adjoining districts. And the plans of forthcoming damsby Andhra Engineers and bureacrats also played major role in farm-ers migration. Some of the bureacrats and employees had given uptheir jobs and undertook agriculture as it was profitable. The labour ischeap and the land value is damn cheap. The Telangana people couldeasily be won over and rather cheated to become prosperous. Wecan see many such examples in Mahaboobnagar district. One farmerturned financier S.Kondareddy used to unleash un-mentionable tor-turous repression upon the people for collection of hand-loans. Heused to detain the girls of families who are indebted to him. NagarjunaSagar also was one of the reasons for migration in large scale toNalgonda District. Warangal is also an adjacent district and had abun-dant water sources with big tanks like Ramappa, Pakhala andLamanevaram. Farmers migration could only be seen in all the areaswhere the water is available. We can see them under the dam ofKadem Project in Adilabad district also.

Employees flown to the Hyderabad city as it is the capital as pergentleman agreemet, employment to the state level offices be 2:1proportion to Andhra and Telangana. leaving aside all the norms sec-retariat was filled by Andhra people and we can hardly see the peoplefrom Telangana area that too as drivers, attenders, watchmen and tosome extent clerks of the lower ranks in the Secretariat. Thus themigration in all the fields, officials, University teachers, Lecturers, andeven the district level officers upto the third rank officials, Andhrapeople intruded. In the judiciary also flow of Andhra people profes-sionals is boundless. Now Telangana people have to choose onlyAndhra Lawyers to get their cases settled. They are not tolerathingTelangana elite also now a days. This pattern is also followed byindustrialists who invested their surplus here availing all types of sub-sidies, land, power, water alongwith easy bank lones. They employonly Andhra people in their firms/industries. Even watchmen postsare not offered to Telangana people. The lands upto 90% in Hyderabadand Rangareddy districts have been ocuupied by Andhra colonialistswho have dominated the real estate business. This real estate busi-ness is owned and managed by Andhra capitalists. The prices of landsare increased from thousands to an acre to thousand per sq.feet whichcause hardship to the natives of Telangana.

Industrialists brought the labour from Andhra area caused labourmigration. Construction workers, contract labour, technicians alsofooted in the city in thousands every year which also followed thehawkers, small firms, business people and other enterpreeurs. Andhra
