There will be a Gala Meeting on Monday, February 5 at 6:30 PM in the Parish Center for anyone who is interested in volunteering

to help with the Gala.

Ash Wednesday is a day of fast and abstinence from eating meat. Fasting for this day consists of one full meal and it is required of all between the ages of 18 and 58.

Days of abstinence: All Fridays in Lent

All who have reached their 14th year of age are bound to abstain totally from meat. The American Bishops recommend that abstinence from meat be observed by all Catholics as a sign of unity with each other during Lent. Many still observe abstinence on all Fridays of the year. This act of Penance is not obligatory as it is during Lent. If a person cannot observe this discipline then another personal act of penance should be performed in Lent.

SCR GUILD”S CARE of the HOMEBOUND COMMITTEE

Caring for the needs of our homebound elderly and disabled in our parish is usually adequately performed by their families, neighbors, and friends. However, there are periodic instances where there are no children, or the children live out of town, and/or there is a need for help. The Care of the Homebound Committee of the SCR Guild ministers to these fellow parishioners by assisting them, within our area, with transportation to Mass or to the doctor, pharmacy, grocery, etc. If you have a need for this ministry (or if you are interested in serving on this committee) please call the Parish Center or Roy and Gail at 887-6706.
