“I gained so much by volunteering at the West Central Women’s Resource Centre. Now I’m working at Spence Neighbourhood Association as the Rental Outreach Worker.” H aving come to the West Central Women’s Resource Centre back in 2005, my life and the lives of my children have changed for the better. It first began with a parenting program that still runs called “Peace Begins at Home”. Its funny when you look up and realize there has to be a better way. When you look for help and find out help is out there, if you seek it and want to change. Being a single mother, I had to stop and realize, I can’t do it all on my own. Then I found out I had to. Coming to the centre made me feel great. I felt like I belonged somewhere. After coming and volun- teering at the centre for two years, I got a job as the Drop-In Coordinator. What I am happy about is I am able to give back what I learned through the centre. I’m so glad we have a place for women to come and feel safe, to know that there is help out there and somewhere to come to talk, to have coffee, a snack and a smile. F

“I gained so much by volunteering at the West Central Women’s Resource Centre. Now I’m

working at Spence Neighbourhood Association as the Rental Outreach Worker.”

Having come to the West Central Women’s Resource Centre back in 2005, my life and the

lives of my children have changed for the better.

After coming and volun-teering at the centre for two years, I got a job as the Drop-In Coordinator. What I am happy about is I am able to give back what I learned through the centre.

I’m so glad we have a place for women to come and feel safe, to know that there is help out there and somewhere to come to talk, to have coffee, a snack and a smile.

Had I not gone to the HOMES program, I would not be moving to a better place

and I would have paid $1,330 that I could not afford for bed bugs that were not my fault.
