About Us
The alumni of the University of Medicine 1 are living in
different parts of Myanmar and various countries in the world. Most
of them, in some way or the other, are engaged in health-related
programmes or are involved in research and teaching/learning
activities. Some have branched into the pharmaceutical sector,
business and commerce, among others. Over the years there has been
networking among and partnerships between the alumni. The
University of Medicine 1 Alumni Association, established in 2014,
is a mechanism to formalize the relationships that have been built
over the years among the alumni and between the alumni and
undergraduate and post-graduate trainees to further advance medical
sciences in Myanmar.
Mission
Mission - to engage and enhance communication and collaboration
between and among the faculty of the university, alumni and friends
and well-wishers of the university at local, national and global
levels and to raise the academic standards of the university
through organizing the sharing of knowledge, skills and experiences
and mobilizing financial resources.

(ခ)တက္ကသိုလ်တွင်ပညာသင်ကြားနေကြသောဘွဲ့ကြိုနှင့်ဘွဲ့လွန်(UG&PG)ကျောင်းသူ
/သားများအတွက် ပညာရေး၊ လူမှုရေး၊ အားကစား ဘက်စုံဖွံ့ဖြိုးတိုးတက်ရေး
အတွက်ပြည်တွင်း/ြပည်ပအလှူရှင်များမှတစ်ဆင့်လိုအပ်သောငွေကြေး၊ နည်းပညာ
အထောက် အပံ့များပေးအပ်နိုင်ရန်။
(ဂ)ကျောင်းသားဟောင်းကွန်ယက် (Network) ထူထောင်၍ ပိုမိုကျယ်ပြန့်စွာ
ဖွဲ့စည်း နိုင်ရန်နှင့်ကျောင်းသားဟောင်းများအနေဖြင့်

နိုင်ငံတကာအဖွဲ့အစည်းတက္ကသိုလ်များဖြင့် ပူးပေါင်း ဆောင်ရွက်မှုများ၊
နည်းပညာဖလှယ်ခြင်းများကို ကျောင်းသားဟောင်းကွန်ယက် (Network) မှတ ဆင့်
လိုအပ်သောချိတ်ဆက်မှုများဖန်တီးပေးနိုင်ရန်။
(င)သက်ကြီးရွယ်အိုဆရာ/ဆရာမများအား တစ်ဖက်တစ်လမ်းမှ ကျန်းမာရေးနှင့်
လူမှုရေးဆိုင်ရာများ ပံ့ပိုးကူညီပေးနိုင်ရန်။
၅။လုပ်ငန်းစဥ်
အထက်ဖော်ြပပါရည်ရွယ်ချက်များ အောင်မြင်စွာဆောင်ရွက်နိုင်ရန်၊
ဆေးတက္ကသိုလ်(၁) ကျောင်းသူ/သားဟောင်းများအသင်းမှ
စုပေါင်းဆောင်ရွက်သွားမည်ဖြစ်ပါသည်။
· ကောက်ခံရရှိထားသော အလှူငွေများထဲမှ ဆေးရုံတက်ရောက်ကုသနေကြသော
ဆရာကြီး/ဆရာမကြီးများနှင့် နာမကျန်းဖြစ်နေသူ (ဆေးရုံမတက်) ဆရာကြီး/
ဆရာမ ကြီးများအားရှာဖွေ၍ ကူညီထောက်ပံ့ငွေများ
သွားရောက်ထောက်ပံ့ရန်။
· ဆေးတက္ကသိုလ်(၁)တွင် ပညာသင်ကြားနေသော ကျောင်းသူ/သားများမှ ပညာသင်
ထောက်ပံ့ကြေးစရိတ်အတွက် ရသင့်ရထိုက်သော ကျောင်းသူ/သားများအား အဖွဲ့မှ
စိစစ်၍ တစ်လလျှင် (၅၀၀၀၀ိ/-) ကျပ်ငါးသောင်းတိတိနှုန်းဖြင့်
ထောက်ပံ့ရန် လျာထားသတ်မှတ်ရန်။
· ထူးချွန်ကျောင်းသားဆု (Student Award Alumni Association Gold
Medal) အတန်းတိုင်းအတွက် တစ်နှစ်လျှင်
တစ်ယောက်သာရွေးချယ်စိစစ်ပေးပါရန်။
· ဆေးတက္ကသိုလ်မှကျောင်းသူ/သားများအနေဖြင့် ဘွဲ့လွန်/ဘွဲ့ကြိုနှင့်
လုပ်ငန်းခွင် ဝင်ရောက်နေသူများအတွက် အကျိုးရှိမည့်ဘာသာရပ်ဆိုင်ရာ
Topic များ (သို့မ
ဟုတ်)လုပ်ငန်းအတွေ့အကြုံနှင့်ပတ်သက်သောTopicများအားဆေးတက္ကသိုလ်(၁) မှ
အောင်မြင်ခဲ့ကြသော ပြည်တွင်း/ ပြည်ပဆရာကြီး/ဆရာမကြီးများမှ(Lecture /
CME/Talk)ဟောပြောဆွေးနွေးပွဲများ၊ အတွေ့အကြုံနှီးနှောဖလှယ်ပွဲများကို
(၂)လ တစ်ကြိမ် ပြုလုပ်သွားရန်။
· ဆေးတက္ကသိုလ်(၁) ကျောင်းသူ/သားဟောင်းအသင်း၏ ဦးဆောင်မှုဖြင့်
(Medical
Trip)(နယ်လှည့်ဆေးကုသမှု)အစီအစဥ်ကို(၂)လ(သို့မဟုတ်)(၃)လလျှင်တစ်ကြိမ်ထွက်ရန်။
· ဆေးတက္ကသိုလ်(၁) ကျောင်းသူ/သားဟောင်းအသင်း၏
ရန်ပုံငွေရှာဖွေရေးအတွက် စင်တင်တေးဂီတ (Live Show) ကိုလည်း
ဆေးတက္ကသိုလ်(၁)မှအောင်မြင်ပြီးသော
နာမည်ရအနုပညာရှင်များ၏ပါဝင်ပံ့ပိုးမှုဖြင့်ကျင်းပပြုလုပ်ရန်နှင့်
ဆရာကန်တော့ပွဲ နှင့် နှစ်ပတ်လည်ညီလာခံပြုလုပ်သွားရန်။
(က)အသင်းသားဖြစ်ခြင်း၊ နှုတ်ထွက်ခြင်း
(က-၁)အသင်းသားဖြစ်ခြင်း
ဆေးတက္ကသိုလ်(၁) ကျောင်းသူ/သားဟောင်းအသင်းတွင် အသင်းသား အဖြစ်
ဝင်ရောက်နိုင်သူများမှာ-
· ဆေးတက္ကသိုလ်(၁)၌ ပညာသင်ကြားနေသော ဘွဲ့ကြို/ဘွဲ့လွန်
ကျောင်းသူ/သားများ။
· ဆေးတက္ကသိုလ်(၁)တွင် အနည်းဆုံး ဒုတိယနှစ်အမ်ဘီဘီအက်စ်
ပြီးဆုံးသည်အထိပညာသင်ကြားခဲ့သူမည်သူမဆိုအသင်းဝင်ရောက် နိုင်သည်။
· အရန်အသင်းဝင်(Pro-member)အဖြစ်ဆေးတက္ကသိုလ် နောက်ဆုံး
နှစ်အပိုင်း(က)နှင့်အပိုင်း(ခ) ကျောင်းသူ/သားများကိုလည်း အသင်း သား
အဖြစ်လက်ခံပါသည်။
(က-၂)အသင်းသားအဖြစ်မှနှုတ်ထွက်ခြင်း
အသင်းသားတစ်ဦးသည် မိမိဆန္ဒအလျောက် အသင်းသားအဖြစ်မှ အသင်းသို့
အကြောင်းကြား၍ နှုတ်ထွက်နိုင်သည်။
(က-၃)အသင်းသားအဖြစ်မှရပ်စဲခြင်း
အသင်းသားတစ်ဦးသည်နာယကအဖွဲ့မှသော်လည်းကောင်း၊ အကြံပေးအဖွဲ့
မှသော်လည်းကောင်း၊ လုပ်ငန်းကော်မတီအဖွဲ့မှသော်လည်းကောင်း၊ အများ
၏ဆန္ဒအရ အသင်း၏ရည်ရွယ်ချက်၊ လုပ်ငန်းစဥ်များကို ထိခိုက်ပျက်ပြား
စေမည့်ဆောင်ရွက်ချက်များ တစ်စုံတစ်ရာတွေ့ရှိပါက၊ အဆိုပါအသင်းသား ကို
အသင်းဝင်အဖြစ်မှ ရပ်စဲနိုင်သည်။

· ဒုတိယဥက္ကဌ(၂) - အများဆန္ဒအရ ရွေးချယ်တင်မြှောက်သွားမည်။
· အတွင်းရေးမှူး(၁)/အတွင်းရေးမှူး(၂)-ဆေးတက္ကသိုလ်(၁)၌ လက်ရှိတာဝန်
ထမ်းဆောင်နေသော အသင်းသားမှ တာဝန်ယူဆောင်ရွက်မည်။
· တွဲဘက်အတွင်းရေးမှူး(၁)/တွဲဘက်အတွင်းရေးမှူး(၂)-ဆေးတက္ကသိုလ်(၁)
၌ လက်ရှိတာဝန်ထမ်းဆောင်နေသော (သို့မဟုတ်) တာဝန်ထမ်းဆောင်ခြင်း
မပြုသည့် အသင်းသားမှ တာဝန်ယူဆောင်ရွက်မည်။
· ဘဏ္ဍာငွေရှာဖွေရေးနှင့်ထိန်းသိမ်းသုံးစွဲရေးအဖွဲ့ -
အဖွဲ့မှရွေးချယ်တာဝန် ပေးသူများ။
· စည်းရုံးရေးနှင့်ပြန်ကြားရေးအဖွဲ့(ပြည်တွင်း/ပြည်ပ) -
အဖွဲ့မှရွေးချယ် တာဝန်ပေးသူများ။
· အမှုဆောင်အဖွဲ့ဝင်များ။
· ကျောင်းသားကိုယ်စားလှယ် - နောက်ဆုံးနှစ်အမ်ဘီဘီအက်စ်အပိုင်း(က)
နှင့်(ခ) မှတစ်တန်းလျှင် (၂)ဦးကျစီတာဝန်ယူဆောင်ရွက်မည်။

(၁)ကြိမ်ကျင်းပပြီး၊ အခါအားလျော်စွာ အခြားအစည်းအဝေးများကို လိုအပ်သလို
ခေါ်ယူကျင်းပသွားမည်။
၇။ဘဏ္ဍာရေးစည်းမျဥ်း
(၁)ပုံသေပိုင်ဆိုင်ပစ္စည်း (Fix Asset) နှင့်ပတ်သက်၍
စနစ်တကျမှတ်ထားတင်ပြုစု ထားရန်။
(၂)ငွေရေးကြေးရေးဆောင်ရွက်ရာတွင် ရငွေတန်ဖိုးများ များပြားလာနိုင်၍
နိုင်ငံတော် ဘဏ် (သို့မဟုတ်)
ပုဂ္ဂလိကဘဏ်များတွင်စာရင်းဖွင့်လှစ်အပ်နှံပြီးဆောင်ရွက်ရန်။
(၃)လုပ်ငန်းများအတွက် လုပ်ကိုင်ဆောင်ရွက်ရာတွင်
ရငွေ/သုံးငွေများကို ဥက္ကဌ၏ ခွင့်ပြုမိန့်ဖြင့် သုံးစွဲပြီး၊
စာရွက်စာတမ်းများကို စနစ်တကျမှတ်တမ်းတင် သိမ်းဆည်း ထားရန်။
(၄)ပေးအပ်လှူဒါန်းလာသည့်ငွေနှင့်ပစ္စည်းများနှင့်ပတ်သက်၍လည်းကောင်း၊
အသင်း ပိုင်ငွေကြေးဖြင့် ဝယ်ယူရရှိသော
ပစ္စည်းများနှင့်ပတ်သက်၍လည်းကောင်း အဝင်/ အထွက် များကို
မှတ်တမ်းတင်ပြုစုထားရှိရန်။
ဘဏ္ဍာငွေရှာဖွေရေးနှင့် ထိန်းသိမ်းသုံးစွဲရေးလုပ်ငန်းများကို
နိုင်ငံတော်မှ ြပဌာန်း ထားသည့်
ဘဏ္ဍာရေးအရအသုံးဆိုင်ရာနည်းဥပဒေများအတိုင်း ဆောင်ရွက်သွားမည်
ဖြစ်ပါသည်။

(၁)ကောက်ခံရရှိထားသော အလှူငွေများထဲမှ
သက်ကြီးဆရာကြီး/ဆရာမကြီးများအား နာမကျန်းြဖစ်သူရှာဖွေကူညီရေးအဖွဲ့၏
တင်ပြချက်နှင့်စိစစ်သုံးသပ်၍ ဆေးရုံတက်ရောက်
ကုသနေကြသောဆရာကြီး/ဆရာမကြီးများအား ထောက်ပံ့ငွေတစ်ဦးလျှင် (၃၀၀၀၀၀ိ/-)
ကျပ်သုံးသိန်းစီကို ထောက်ပံ့ပေးပြီးဖြစ်ပါသည်။ ဆက်လက်၍
နာမကျန်းဖြစ်နေသူ (ဆေးရုံ မတက်) ဆရာကြီး/ဆရာမကြီးများအားလည်း
ထောက်ပံ့ငွေ (၁၀၀၀၀၀ိ/-) ကျပ်တစ်သိန်းစီ
သွားရောက်ထောက်ပံ့ရန်လျာထားပြီးဖြစ်ပါသည်။
(၂)ဆေးတက္ကသိုလ်(၁)ကျောင်းသား/သူဟောင်းများအသင်းမှ
ပညာသင်ထောက်ပံ့ကြေးစရိတ် အတွက် ရသင့်ရထိုက်သော ကျောင်းသူ/သားများအား
အဖွဲ့မှစိစစ်၍ တစ်လလျှင် (၅၀၀၀၀ိ/)ကျပ်ငါးသောင်းတိတိနှုန်းဖြင့်
တစ်နှစ်အတွက် စုစုပေါင်းကျပ်ငွေ(၆၀၀၀၀၀ိ/) ကျပ်ခြောက်သိန်းဖြင့်
အတန်းတစ်တန်းတွင် အများဆုံးကျောင်းသားဦးရေ (၆)ဦးအတွက် ထောက်ပံ့ရန်
လျာထား သတ်မှတ်ထားပါသည်။
(၃)ထူးချွန်ကျောင်းသားဆု (Student Award Alumni Association Gold
Medal) အတန်းတိုင်းအတွက် တစ်နှစ်လျှင် တစ်ယောက်ရွေးချယ်စိစစ်ပေးပါရန်
လျာထားပါသည်။
(၄)ဆေးတက္ကသိုလ်(၁)ကျောင်းသား/သူဟောင်းများအသင်း၏လျာထားလုပ်ဆောင်မှုတစ်ခုမှာ
ဆေးတက္ကသိုလ်မှကျောင်းသူ/သားများအနေဖြင့်ဘွဲ့လွန်/ဘွဲ့ကြိုနှင့်လုပ်ငန်းခွင်ဝင်ရောက်
နေသူများအတွက် အကျိုးရှိမည့် ဘာသာရပ်ဆိုင်ရာ Topic
များ(သို့မဟုတ်)လုပ်ငန်း၊ အတွေ့အကြုံ နှင့်ပတ်သက်သော Topic များအား
ဆေးတက္ကသိုလ်(၁)မှ အောင်မြင်ခဲ့ကြ သော

(အခမဲ့နယ်လှည့်ဆေးကုသမှု)အစီအစဥ်ကို(၂)လ(သို့မဟုတ်)(၃)လလျှင်တစ်ကြိမ်ထွက်ရန်
လျာထားပြီး ဖြစ်ပါသည်။

History of University of Medicine 1
Colonial Period (1907-1930)
Formal western style medical education was first introduced in
1907 with a four-year course known as L.M.P. course, (Licentiate of
Medical Practitioner). The classes were conducted in a temporary
wooden building in the same compound as the Rangoon General
Hospital (RGH). Clinical training in medicine and surgery was
conducted at RGH, but the students had to go to India for practical
training in midwifery at the Government Maternity Hospital in
Madras.
A medical department at the University of Rangoon was formed in
1923. The Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (M.B., B.S.)
degree course was introduced in 1923-24 and the course met the
requirements of the General Medical Council (GMC) of Great Britain.
The medical curricula was adapted and improved between 1923 and
1930 to continue to meet the medical curricula was adapted and

Japanese Occupation (1942-1945)
The Second World War broke out in Europe in 1939 and spread to
Burma in 1942. The Rangoon University suspended classes in early
1942 as the British Government of Burma withdrew to India. The
M.B., B.S course ceased with the closure of Rangoon University, but
a modified course was conducted in the medical college building.
The successful candidates were conferred with Licentiate of State
Medical Board (L.S.M.B.)
British Reoccupation (1945-1947)
When the Allied Forces reoccupied Rangoon in May 1945, the
medical college building was taken over by the military authorities
and converted into a hospital. The medical college building was
returned to the Rangoon University on 29th May 1946. Some teaching
aids and books were urgently purchased but were just sufficient to
cope with the new annual intake of 30 students.
British Reoccupation (1945-1947)

(2005)
In May 1962, the University Act was abolished and the Faculty of
Medicine as part of the University of Rangoon came under the
Administrative Committee of the Education Ministry of the
Revolutionary Council. The new University Education Act was
promulgated on the 29th May 1964 and professional institutes were
established; i.e. Institutes of Medicine with the Rector as Head of
each Medical Institute. In the same year postgraduate courses were
introduced.
In October 1973, the Medical Institutes were transferred from
the Ministry of Education to the Ministry of Health. All
postgraduate courses were placed directly under the administration
of the Rector of the Institute of Medicine (1) in December 1984.In
2005, the Institute of Medicine 1 was renamed the University of
Medicine 1. The University confers the Bachelor of Medicine and
Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) degree and Masters and Doctoral degrees
in selected specialties.

update your information, search for classmates, and network with
other members of AA.
UM(1) Alumni Card
Members of Alumni Association will be issued a smart card that
will give you an identity and belonging to UM(1)AA. This will not
only help you engage and connect to other alumni but also gives you
opportunities to take advantage of other benefits such as library
privileges and special discounts at shops, laboratories hospitals,
restaurants, hotels and travel agents linked to the AA.
How to apply
All Alumni of University of Medicine (1),Yangon or Institute of
Medicine (1), Rangoon are eligible to apply for Full membership.
Application forms are available from the Alumni Association Office
in the University of Medicine (1), Yangon, Lanmadaw or from the
website. Please include ONE photo in colour and a copy of
graduation certificate from UM(1) or endorsement from ONE class
mate who is already a member of the UM(1) AA.
The life-time membership fee is 30,000.00 Kyats or 30 US$ for a
single membership. Each member will receive their personal
membership card that grants full member benefits and
privileges.
Membership fee is totally waived for those above the age of
70.
Students (undergraduates) who are currently attending UM(1) are
eligible to apply for Associate Membership. The application form
must include ONE colour photo, a copy of student card for the
current academic year and Associate Membership fee of 10,000
Kyats.

Section.
N.B: there are separate application forms for Full membership
and Associate members.

Funding Alumni Association
Alumni Association General Fund: Endowment funds are required to
support all activities of the UM(1)AA.
Students' Stipend
Students’ Stipends : Students of UM(1) who are in need of
financial support will be awarded with Stipends. Students may apply
for stipends at the UM (1)AA Head Office in Lanmadaw or at the
Administration Dept of UM(1), Yangon. Eligibility for stipend will
be assessed by the Committee appointed by the UM(1)AA. The Stipend
award will be Kyat 50,000 per month, giving on a monthly basis.
Students will receive stipends starting from the academic year
2015.
Best Student Awards
Best Student Awards : The awards are designed to encourage
students who will one day become leaders of the medical profession.
At present UM(1)AA will be awarding Gold medals to the Best student
in every class starting from 2nd M.B,B.S. In the future, AA will
honour alumni and associates whose distinguished careers and
selfless contributions to the society have added lustre and
prestige to our University. A Committee will be appointed to select
the recipients every year and the presentation will be made in the
Annual Meeting.
Elderly Teachers Fund
Elderly Teachers Support : The Alumni Association is giving
support ( financially and socially) to retired teachers of 70 years
and above particularly at the time of infirmity. Please send
information if you know any of our teachers who need help.
Currently financial support for elderly teachers is 3 lakh kyats
per visit. This may be repeated according to the requirement.
Annual Meeting
Annual Meetings/ Class Reunions : Members are most welcome to
take part in the organizing committees of academic and social
events.
Research Endowments
Research Endowments : We look forward to receiving support to
encourage Institutional, Departmental or individual research
programmes in the University. Research grants will be awarded based
on the scientific merit of the proposal.
Get Involved
Get Involved: Participation of alumni is essential for success
of AA’s commitments. Your experience is invaluable and we hope
you’ll get involved in one of the many opportunities available
through UM(1)AA.
1) Serve: in the Executive Committee or Subcommittees. All
alumni are most welcome to participate in free medical service
tours of UM(1)AA.

Mentoring of undergraduates and postgraduates,
Supervising and Supporting in Research programmes
Regular CME programmes of UM(1)AA: currently the programmes are
conducted on the last Sunday of every second month. We hope to
expand these programmes in the future.
3) Host: Alumni association is willing to engage in
collaborative events with any local and international organization/
association to carry out AA's mission.
Offers from Alumni Association members are highly appreciated
for hosting Annual Meetings, Seminars , Workshops and CME
programmes.
