D FASZINATION FORMGeometrische Formen ästhetisch in Szene zu setzen, faszinierte den dänischen Designer Erik Sander Solberg von jeher. Aus dieser Leidenschaft sowie einer Abneigung gegen unangenehme Akustik kam die Inspiration für diese einzigartige Leuchte: UFO, ein frei schwebendes, modular veränderbares Lichtsystem, welches optional um Schallschutzelemente ergänzt werden kann. So vereint es mit erstaunlich wenig Komponenten absolut neuartige Möglichkeiten der lichttechnischen Gestaltung und höchste Funktionalität als effi zientes Arbeitslicht mit individueller Schallreduktion.

E FASCINATED BY FORMSAesthetically highlighting geometrical forms: that’s always been the fascination of the Danish designer Erik Sander Solberg. The inspiration for this unique luminaire came from this passion and a strong aversion to poor acoustics: UFO is a free-fl oating, modular lighting system which can be optionally supplemented with sound-proofi ng elements. Using surprisingly few components, UFO offers absolutely new opportunities in creative lighting design and top-notch functionality as an effi cient working light with individualised noise reduction.

D FORM(UN)VOLLENDETMit UFO sind der Kreativität von Architekten und Lichtplanern keine Grenzen in der faszinierenden Lichtinszenierung gesetzt. Die geraden Systemteile UFO LINEAR können um die gebogenen Leuchtenkörper UFO CURVE, welche in zwei Radien erhältlich sind, ergänzt werden. Wahlweise als Deckenaufbau- oder Abhängvariante eingesetzt, eröffnen sich so ungeahnte Dimensionen des Lichtdesigns, da die Formen frei miteinander kombinierbar sind – auch im dreidimensionalen Bereich.

ABSOLUT LEISEDas Herzstück der UFO ist ihr Schallschutzelement. Dieses besteht aus einem Akustikmaterial, welches optional in die Ringanordnung eingepasst werden kann. Von dort absorbiert es Schallwellen und verbessert so um ein Vielfaches die Geräuschkulisse besonders schallharter Räume. So werden zusätzliche Schallfänger überfl üssig.

VOLL FUNKTIONSTÜCHTIGUFO überzeugt durch strahlende Lichtergebnisse. Neben perfekter Direktbe-leuchtung entstehen durch polygonal angeordnete Einzelplatinen zusätzlich fantastische Indirektlichtszenen an der Decke. Mit 104 lm/W kann sich auch die Lichtausbeute sehen lassen. Die mikroprismatische Abdeckung garantiert beste Entblendungswerte bei UGR < 19. Zudem sorgt die Diffusorfolie für eine homogene Ausleuchtung.

E FORM(IM)PERFECTIONUFO offers endless creative opportunities to architects and lighting planners in developing fascinating lighting designs. The straight system components UFO LINEAR can be combined with the curved luminaires UFO CURVE, which are available in two radii. Available as a ceiling mounted or suspended luminaire, UFO opens up new dimensions in lighting design, as the forms can be freely combined with each other, three dimensionally as well.

ABSOLUTE QUIETAt the heart of UFO is its sound-proofi ng element. This consists of an acoustic material which optionally fi ts into the ring-shaped arrangement of UFO. Its function is to absorb sound waves and thus signifi cantly improve the noise levels in especially rooms which are ‘acoustically hard’. This makes additional sound-proofi ng unnecessary.

FULLY FUNCTIONALUFO also stands out for its excellent lighting results. Along with perfect direct lighting, the ceiling also showcases fantastic indirect light scenes, thanks to the polygonal arrangement of the individual LED boards. The light yield of 104 lm/W is also impressive. The micro-prismatic cover guarantees excellent anti-glare properties, ensuring UGR < 19. Furthermore, the use of a diffusion fi lm results in uniform lighting.

Ob in Schlangenlinien, in Form einer Sinuskurve, S-förmig oder kreisrund – mit UFO sind dem Designanspruch und der kreativen Gestaltungsmöglichkeiten keine Grenzen gesetzt. Dieses Leuchtensystem unterstreicht jede architektonische Finesse und macht Räume unverwechselbar. Dabei lassen sich beliebig viele Geraden und Kurvenelemente miteinander kombinieren, je nach Wunsch und baulicher Gegebenheit. Dabei können auch ungewöhnliche Platzgeometrien, wie Über-Eck-Situationen oder Trapezanordnungen beispielweise in Konferenzräumen oder Begegnungszonen optimal ausgeleuchtet werden. Neben dem Direkt-lichtanteil erzeugen polygonal angebrachte LED-Platinen zudem ein sehr angenehmes indirektes Licht an der Decke.

E FASCINATED BY FORMSUFO appears like a light from another galaxy. Arranged in snakelike lines, as a sinus curve, and S-curve or a circle – with UFO, the design options and crea-tive forms are endless. This lighting system underlines architectural fi nesse and makes for unforgettable spaces. As many straight and curved elements can be combined as desired or needed. It is also possible to provide optimum lighting for unusual room geometries, such as above corners and trapezoidal patterns, for example in conference rooms or meeting areas. Along with the direct light, the polygonal arrangement of the LED boards also results in very pleasant indirect light on the ceiling.

D Kommunikation hat sich verändert. Besonders Geräuschkulissen in modernen, funktionalen Bauwerken wie Behörden, Universitäten, Großraumbüros und Emp-fangsbereichen von Hotels können oft unangenehm laut werden, denn es kommen vor allem Materialien mit harten, schallrefl ektierenden Oberfl ächen wie Glas oder Sichtbeton zum Einsatz. Diese weisen jedoch kaum schallabsorbierende Wirkung auf. Dadurch entstehen ungünstige Hörbedingungen und die Sprachverständ-lichkeit im Frequenzbereich zwischen 500 und 1500 Hertz (Hz) wird deutlich ge-mindert. Der UFO Absorber erzielt genau hier, bei Frequenzen um 1500 Hz, beste Ergebnisse (siehe Diagramm). Durch die Kombination von hexogonalen Kammern, Schaumstoff und Filz reduziert sich die Schallbelastung. Schallwellen werden im Inneren gefangen, wodurch sich die relevante Nachhallzeit im oberen Frequenz-bereich bei 1500 Hz nach DIN 18041 hörbar verkürzt. Da Gespräche unmittelbar unterhalb des UFO Absorbers stattfi nden, anders als etwa bei herkömmlichen Akustikdecken, ist eine hohe Sprachverständlichkeit garantiert. Diese schallabsor-bierende Wirkung vereint UFO mit fortschrittlichster LED-Technologie.

E Communication has changed. Background noise in modern, functio-nal buildings, such as public buildings, universities, open-plan offi ces and lobbies of hotels can often become uncomfortably loud, because it is mostly materials with hard, sound-refl ecting surfaces which are used, such as glass and architectural concrete. These materials hardly have any sound-absorbing qualities. This leads to poor conditions for hearing and a signifi cant deteriorati-on in speech intelligibility in the frequency range between 500 and 1500 hertz (Hz). This is precisely the range, around frequencies of 1500 Hz, at which UFO achieves its best results (see chart). The combination of hexagonal chambers, foam and felt reduces the noise level. Sound waves are caught inside, causing an audible reduction in the relevant reverberation time in the upper frequency range at 1500 Hz as per DIN 18041. As conversations take place directly below the UFO absorber, good speech intelligibility is guaranteed, in contrast to traditional acoustic ceilings. UFO combines this sound-proofi ng effect with state-of-the-art LED technology.

Durch den Einsatz der neuesten LED-Generation mit 170 lm/W bei 4000 K und 25 °C erreichen wir eine hervorragende Lichtausbeute von bis zu 104 lm/W.

E LEDFor its light source, the luminaire uses only high-efficiency LEDs with CRI 85 and colour temperature options of 3000 K and 4000 K. Using the latest generation of LEDs with 170 lm/W at 4000 K and 25 °C, an outstanding light yield of up to 104 lm/W can be achieved.

E BOARDSThe boards with the mounted LEDs are inserted into UFO’s frame profile. This ensures optimum thermal management and guarantees the state lifecycle of 50,000h/L80.

D KONVERTERDie Konverter der UFO sind direkt im Leuchtengehäuse integriert, dadurch entfallen störende Aufbaugehäuse an der Decke. Alle UFO Leuchten sind für eine Dimmbarkeit mit DALI Signal geeignet.

E CONVERTERUFO’s converter is integrated directly into the luminaire housing, meaning that no ugly mounted units are neces-sary on the ceiling. All UFO luminaires are dimmable using DALI signal.
