Pos Malaysia to spend RM40.37mil to enhance computer network

Pos Malaysia expects to solve the problem of network congestion.

KUALA LUMPUR: Pos Malaysia Bhd has awarded a RM40.37mil contract to boost itsnetwork transaction speed and migrate to a much higher bandwidth capacity.

The postal service provider told Bursa Malaysia that the letter of award, subject to aformal agreement to be entered into within 30 days, was given to Synergycentric Sdn Bhdin a recurrent related-party transaction.

Synergycentric will install and operate wide area network (WAN) optimisation equipmentto improve network transaction time and maximise the usage of network bandwidth aswell as WAN monitoring equipment to monitor performance bottleneck and congestionsfor capacity planning.

It will also replace integrated services for digital network (ISDN) with 3G Wireless, whichhas a higher bandwidth capacity of 384 kilobits per second (kbps) compared to ISDN’s 128kbps.

“Synergycentric was identified as the successful bidder for the WAN services afterundergoing the evaluations,” Pos Malaysia said.

DRB-Hicom Bhd, a major shareholder of Pos Malaysia with a 32.2% stake, is among theparties interested or deemed interested in the award of the contract.

In a separate filing, Pos Malaysia announced the appointment of Muhammad Noor AbdAziz as chief financial officer effective Aug 3.

Pos Malaysia shares gained 7 sen to RM4.36 on Monday.
