The Association of Teachers of Japanese and the National Council of Japanese Language Teachers are consolidating to create one national professional organization: The American Association of Teachers of Japanese (AATJ).

Operations will be streamlined with one website and one governing body. A new membership structure has the potential to generate new revenue for local affiliates and encourage more teachers to participate in your professional organizations.

Your favorite activities, events and services will continue, with the addition of benefits formerly for ATJ members only.
Your students can still enjoy the Nengajou Contest, National Honor Society, and the National Japanese Exam Contest. You will be able to attend the ACTFL Conference at a discounted rate, with many AATJ-sponsored sessions. In addition, you will be able to access the special programs and events previously run by ATJ such as the Spring Conference with the Association of Asian Studies, and the journal Japanese Language and Literature (for a $5 shipping fee).

Local Affiliates sent $15 to NCJLT for their members who wanted
to join the national organization
OLD PAYMENTSTRUCTURE
Members will pay dues to the new
AATJ *(online credit card payment available)

AATJ will send $15
Local Affiliates for
each member in their area.
Members will include prior NCJLT and prior
ATJ members.

NEW PAYMENTSTRUCTURE
*If you prefer to ONLY belong to your Local Affiliate (and not AATJ),you can pay your dues directly to the Local Affiliate.

After January 1, 2012, join AATJ
online at www.aatj.org.
Membership is $40 and you may
pay by credit card. Or, you can send a
check to our office.
When you join, you will be
asked to choose a Local Affiliate. It can the Affiliate
where you live, or where you visit
often.
If your Local Affiliate has set up an official account with AATJ, $15 of your membership fee will be shared back with them.
Your membership fee supports both national and local Japanese organizations!
