WHAT WE DO! Assist with the GRPSEO application process

Monitor student success with semester contacts, grade review and verify eligibility

Provide referrals where/when necessary

Provide limited help with other application processes such as OSAP, OCAS and OUAC

Promote post secondary awareness with elementary and secondary aged students

WHO IS ELIGIBLE?

Six Nations Members

Persons who are enrolled in or accepted for enrolment in an eligible post secondary program

WHAT PROGRAMS ARE ELIGIBLE?

At least two academic years in length

Offered by a recognized post secondary institution

Secondary school completion as an entrance requirement to the program

PLEASE NOTE: Preparatory programs (or courses) are not eligible unless they provide full credit towards a diploma or degree

LEVELS OF ASSISTANCE Level 1 - College Diploma

Level 2 - University Undergraduate Degree (Including B.Ed., Law Degree)

Level 3 - Graduate University Degree

Level 4 - Post Graduate Degree

Ontario College Application Services: $95

Ontario University Application Centre: High school $150

Mature $155+

Mandatory Program Fees Maximum $1,000/year for all

students

STUDYING AT PRIVATE AND/OR OUT OF COUNTRY INSTITUTIONS

Funding is limited to completion of one level of assistance (e.g. College diploma or undergraduate degree)

Tuition assistance is calculated at the Canadian public institution rate

Funds are issued in Canadian Currency

Not all private institutions/programs are eligible for educational assistance

PRIORITY SYSTEM - RESIDENCY 1 Priority 1 - Returning or Continuing

Successful Students

Priority 1 b – Continuing successful self-funded students

Priority 2 - New High School Graduates

Priority 3 - Withdrawals for just cause (emergency cases)

Priority 4 (a) – Part time successful students applying for full time assistance

You will be mailed/e-mailed a “Check List of Required Documentation”

Read the information requested – If you have questions, contact your Education Counsellor.

If documents are not received your application may not be processed further.

Review the rules and guidelines for funding.

GRPSEO’s policy states that all student files are confidential

Completed Third Party Access(TPA) consent form required to allow us to share your information with a parent.

ONTARIO COLLEGESMay 1st Deadline to Confirm Offers of

Admission Applicants must confirm their acceptance

of an offer of admission by this date

Colleges may extend offers of admission after this date.

Check your e-mails frequently.

ONTARIO UNIVERSITIESMay 26th

The latest date by which all secondary school applicants shall expect a response from an Ontario university. Such a response will be one of the following:1) an offer of admission;2) a refusal; or3) a deferral pending the receipt of specific additional information

DEPOSIT DEADLINES

Make sure you pay attention to the institution’s deposit deadline.

This deadline will be communicated to you by the institution.

All documentation must be complete and accurate.

An incomplete application package will result in cancellation and loss of funding.

Refer to your Check List of required documentation.

Scholarships

A gift of money given to a student most often based on academic achievements

Possible sources: schools, companies, charities, governments and private individuals

Entrance scholarships

Most often an application is required

BursariesA gift of money given to a student who

demonstrates a genuine financial need

Application is required

Marks are not often prime consideration

You schedule this session with your Education Counsellor after approval of funding.

Meeting in person is preferred.

Your Parent(s)/Guardian(s) are welcome to attend.

ACADEMIC PERFORMANCE Students are required

to submit their grades after each semester

Poor academic performance can affect: Priority Overpayment Academic dismissal
