To design energy efficient urban master plans and housings under the circumstances of Green Building Design, Clean Development Design and Tropical Architecture, as an environmental sustainable and responsible urban

development, the energy impact of the location is the basic start-up.

The students ask you, what do you know about the energy impact of your actual location HCMC?

Why should I know this? The students of Ho Chi Minh City University of Architecture learned the inherit of our ancestors in natural impacts in architecture. Especially the tropical and subtropical area of Viet Nam has to benefit again from natural architecture impacts – today we call it GREEN IMPACT. Our globe is affected by artificial destroying materials like Green House Gas emissions and hazardous substances. Architects, urban designers, engineers have the knowledge to present people more about Carbon Neutral architecture possibilities. Everything begins with earth’s major energy source – the sun. Remember inherits of our ancestors and learn to use sun as the basic and major energy source. Learn “What is shade?” and reduce sun energy impacts to more than the half. But first learn….. “Where is the sun?” - this is the energy impact of the location. Observe energy impacts in buildings; think about carbon footprints in your surroundings. Especially in our last century we started to use fossil oil as an eternal source, we didn’t pay attention about negative side products, we in-creased dramatically our carbon footprint on earth. We have to learn to………

2.1 Start-up CDM

“We see a lot of people who are only interested in current cash benefits with no responsibility for the future of our society.” “Why should I give up benefits? …….. and others take it…… No, I want to be on cash winner side………” ………. a little provoking………….. But a fact for start-up………….. CDM and JI is something of environmental responsibility. What is a CER - Certification of Emission Reduction? What is a EUA - European Unit Allowance? Example: A German Company has the government permission for CO2 output. The German government takes a fee for CO2 output. 90% of these CO2 output is free of fees, 10% CO2 output has the Company to buy in form of EUAs or CERs from others. The company buys these EUAs/CERs on the environmental exchange market - European Energy Exchange eex - in Leipzig or from UNFCCCC. Not signed countries of Kyoto Protocol offers to UNFCCC national CDM projects. After UNFCCC proving these CDM qualified projects get CERs. Now, the German Company buys these CERs from this company - per example from a Vietnamese company. One CER / EUA is the equivalent of 1 toCO2.

The Convention and the Protocol

Over a decade ago, most countries joined an international treaty -- the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) -- to begin to consider what can be done to reduce global warming and to cope with whatever temperature increases are inevitable.

More recently, a number of nations approved an addition to the treaty: the Kyoto Protocol, which has more powerful (and legally binding) measures.

The Kyoto Protocol, an international and legally binding agreement to reduce greenhouse gas emissions worldwide, entered into force on 16 February 2005.

The German guideline EHVV 2012 for emission trading sets the framework for the annual auction of 40 million emission certificates in 2010 and 2011. European Energy Exchange will run the primary market auction for European emission allowances (EUA) in Germany on behalf of Ger-man Federal Ministry for the Environment.

2.5 JI and CDM

Joint Implementation - JI - and Clean Development Mechanism - CDM The idea of implement compensatory measurements for CO2 emissions evolved from Kyoto Protocol. The two project-oriented mechanisms are the so-called Clean Development Mechanism (CDM) and Joint Implementation (JI). The principle of both mechanisms is similar: An investor conducts a project in a host country that reduces the emissions and the investor obtains emission credits. Requirement for the generation of emission credits is evidence of emission reductions that are in addition to measures that would have been carried out without the project. One part is the UNFCCC trade forum, the other is the US emission trade market, as USA is not a signed member of Kyoto Protocol and does it in its own way.

Investors in GHG emission reduction projects in many countries do not just follow CDM, which is said to be rather complex. For instance, an agricultural project supported by EDF in China can sell its GHG emission reductions to a large company in the US and does not need to obtain approval from UNFCCC

2.7 CDM in Vietnam

Investors in GHG emission reduction projects in many countries do not just follow CDM, which is said to be rather complex. For instance, an agricultural project supported by EDF in China can sell its GHG emission reductions to a large company in the US and does not need to obtain approval from UNFCCC
