A place to live and learnThe nature of studying abroad is not the same in any part of the world. It was in the 90’s that studying English in the Philippines

became the bandwagon for non-native speakers from East Asia. These students, who were basically tourists, found cheap trade in

education in the Philippines not only because studying went hand-in-hand with leisure and travel, but most of all, the one on one

classroom setup proved to be more effective in acquiring and improving communication skills using a foreign language.

For a decade, the Philippines became a hotspot for learning English for this very reason.

As the years passed, the trend has not let up and indeed, academies offering language courses in the Philippines, or simply called

ESL schools, have given a new light to studying abroad. Apart from South Koreans, students from Japan, China, Taiwan, Thailand,

Vietnam, Mongolia, and Saudi Arabia have also already recognized the Philippines as one of the primary destinations for language

learning.

While this phenomenon continues, the requirement of students for choosing the right academy has evolved. More so since ESL

schools have mushroomed in different regions and cities all over the country. This has made it more difficult for them to select the

institution that would best meet their preferences.

Since the common duration for study programs is a minimum of four weeks, students naturally go for a place that they can call

their home away from home, at the same time, comfortably and efficiently study. Further, it has become important to be in an

environment where they can expand their interests and enrich their student life.

As an established language school in Baguio City, Monol recognizes not only the need among non-native speakers of English to

enhance their skills using the language but also the importance of a school-life balance that leads to better academic functioning.

Because of this, it transcends the standards of what ESL schools offer to students and more. It prioritizes the development of its

academic materials, the quality of the services it provides, and the safety and security of its students. And true to what the Philippines

commits to offer to its visitors, Monol has further established more opportunities for students to achieve a balanced and enriched

learning experience through diverse activities.

Indeed, as Monol journeys through the coming years, it shall commit to inspire its students to be globally competitive, while continuing

to ensure each one of them will live a life in the Philippines securely and at its fullest.

> One week experimental study program

Monol has launched its One-week Experimental Study Program to open more opportunities for students to seek the right academic

environment. In this program, the academy will give you one week to experience the courses and services of Monol for free and

if during this week, the academy fails to satisfy your needs, we will never hold you back to explore other academies. Regardless

of the reason or factors for your dissatisfaction, we will refund your tuition and accommodation fees in full, excluding the $100

registration fee and the money transfer fees.

> Easy fees payment scheme

Most language schools require students to pay all fees at one time. However, it is a fact that not all students are capable of settling

fees this way. As a consideration to those who have financial constraints, Monol has developed an easy payment scheme, which

allows students to pay for their tuition and other fees every month.

> 100% refund

During any student’s study program, unforeseen or unprecedented circumstances may occur that would leave no choice for him/

her but to cancel. Most of the time, another problem arises because of the inability of academies to give a refund in full.

To avoid giving this burden to the students, Monol is committed to returning 100% of the students’ tuition and accommodation

fees with the exception of the registration fee of $100 and the money transfer fees.

> Flexible and diversified learning options

Any student would like to have a balanced school life. If not, it will be very easy for him/her to get burnt out physically and mentally.

To give everyone an enriched learning experience in the Philippines, Monol offers various extra-curricular programs related to sports

and fitness and provides facilities and equipment to support them. Further, students are given opportunities to customize their

curriculum by adding or converting class setups to match their study habits and styles as well as to better maximize their learning.

STUDENT SATISFACTION GUARANTEES

Retention and repetition of concepts with gradually expanding vocabulary & lesson

The frequency of topic delivery and discussion on all proficiency levels, along with the addition

of new concepts, contributes to the refinement and sharpening of students’ abilities.

Adaptation of theme-based lessons

Through theme-based lessons, students learn the appropriate language and communication

expressions for real life situations and are given venues for more practice and feedback from

teachers.

Expansion of teacher trainings

There are six (6) stages of Monol’s training program, which encompasses basic and advanced

ESL teaching strategies as well as in-depth understanding of the various curriculums offered.

Ensuring quality teaching through regular evaluation

The need to assess and evaluate the competencies of each teacher is present in all stages of

the training program. Through validation examinations, teaching strategies as well as the

teachers’ training needs are evaluated to assure consistency in delivery and facilitation of

classes.

Job Interview

In a decade that Monol has thrived in providing English language courses, the academy has gained more than enough experience

to learn the studying habits, capacities, and culture of its students. With additional research, it was able to form and create course

materials, which are specific to a diversifying student demographic. Further, each course has its own unique methodology,

framework, and approach but is, all the same, geared towards a more comfortable use of the English language and global

competence.

* Foundational ESL students who find themselves without classmates will only be given five (5) hours of 1:1 classes in Listening,

Reading, and Speaking.

Regular Speaking ESL focuses on the improvement of a student’s skills in listening, speaking, reading, and writing, as well as in

grammar and pronunciation. It has two (2) proficiency levels: Foundational ESL and Essential ESL, which define the abilities of

students to comprehend, express and communicate using the language. Each sublevel of Foundational and Essential ESL are

designed for eight (8) weeks but may be shortened through LEVEL UP examinations done every four (4) weeks.

ESL (English as a Second Language) is an abbreviation used by non-native speakers to refer to the course, which is the key to

gaining proficiency and fluency in the language. There are two ESL courses: Regular Speaking ESL and Intensive Speaking ESL.

Intensive Speaking ESL is a skill-specific course, which highlights more speaking enhancement activities in all its subjects. It adheres

to the proficiency levels defined in the Regular Speaking ESL course; however, all subjects in Intensive Speaking ESL are set in man-

to-man classes and are more integrative.

The cultural exchange program for junior students is a special project geared towards further

enriching the learning experiences of ESL youngsters in the Philippines. Through this

program, the students get to understand the process of research, learn

the aspects of cooperation and being part of a team, at the same time, be

exposed to the different cultural backgrounds of varying nationalities and peoples. As

these junior students are also learning English courses, opportunities for further enhancing their

communication skills using the language become wider and more prominent.

One week before the graduation of students, a simple orientation is given to brief them on

the necessary procedures before leaving the campus, which includes clearance procedures

and instructions on how to get to Manila. These students can take the infamous airport

limousine that can drop them off at a certain airport terminal. From here, students can

transfer to other airport terminals using various shuttles of airlines or bus companies. Public

transport like taxis, buses, and trains crowd the Manila streets all the time. However, with

services such as these, students are assured to have a safe and secure travel from Baguio to

Manila, and likewise, have a more convenient mode of transport.
