INTRODUCTION

Make the students understand the idea of microscopic Teach the kingdoms of the microscopic world: Monera,

Fungus, Protists Explain that not all the microorganisms are pathogenic

and that there are a lot which are beneficial As a final activity, elaborate a menu made with

microorganisms, create and explain a poster showing the benefits of microorganisms in our life and make a model .

The students need to understand the main ideas of the text and tell them to the other group

SECOND ACTIVITY: YOGURT PRODUCTION

Show the students how microorganisms are used in the industrial process of making some foods

We will give the students the protocol of the practice, they will have to understand the vocabulary and the steps for later reproduce it in the laboratory

THIRD ACTIVITY: USING THE MICROSCOPE

PART ONE: CALCULATE THE SIZE OF AN ORGANISM USING THE SCALE BAR The aim of this activity is to show the students the real

size of a microorganism Using a picture with a scale bar the students have to

calculate the size using a ruler . Activity

PART TWO: WATCH A VIDEO WHICH EXPLAINS HOW TO VISUALIZE BACTERIA IN A YOGURT Watch the video in the class for later doing the same

steps with the yogurt the students have produced. Activity
