PROJECT BIOINFORMATICS 1 (PSM1)

INTRODUCTION

PROJECT BIOINFORMATICS 1 (PSM1)

“Requirement traceability matrix is a document, usually in the form of a table

used to trace between user requirements on the system to the system products, such as

design documents, source code and test cases.”.

Requirements Traceability (RT)

PROJECT BIOINFORMATICS 1 (PSM1)

Forward traceability: Maps requirements to test cases.

Backward or reverse traceability: Maps test cases to requirements.

Bi-directional traceability (Forward + Backward): Analyzes the impact of a change in requirements defect in a work product and vice versa.

Types of Traceability Matrix:

PROJECT BIOINFORMATICS 1 (PSM1)

Use to apply the course registration online including Course Work, Short Course, Research and Seminar.

Student can also upload their research update and view their schedule.

eCAMPUS

PROJECT BIOINFORMATICS 1 (PSM1)

Problem to overcome by this project is to use requirement traceability method chosen to track the requirements and to check if the current project requirements are compatible with user requirements recorded before the system’s development begin.

Statement of Problem

PROJECT BIOINFORMATICS 1 (PSM1)

To study and understand the use and function of Requirement Traceability process for integrated university management system in UIM.

To choose one of Requirement Traceability method and practice in integrated university management system in UIM.

To analyze and ensure that the system product meet the user requirements.

Objectives

PROJECT BIOINFORMATICS 1 (PSM1)

The target users are all users of eCAMPUS system including students and staff related. Can be access on all web browsers.

eCAMPUS system only covers the environment and region in Univesiti Islam Malaysia’s portal and integrated university management system of UIM.

Cover only two module of eCAMPUS system: Admission & Application.

Scopes of Project

PROJECT BIOINFORMATICS 1 (PSM1)

Begin to display Log Activity after students create account in eCAMPUS system.

Two Application Type, New Application and Ready Application.

New Application is for students that need to register new account. Ready Application is for students that had been created their account.

Application Module

PROJECT BIOINFORMATICS 1 (PSM1)

- Enter some personal detail,- Submit, receive activation email- Direct to Application form – provide

some support documents- Submit, receive activation email to

confirm application submission

Staff related will check the application of students. And will inform the students if application not completed.

Students whose application incomplete, receive notification email and resubmit the application.

Academic Unit can either reject the application and give reject letter or accept and generate offer letter. Academic Unit can also generate re-offer letter for case of deferment.

Admission

Application & Admission in eCAMPUS system

PROJECT BIOINFORMATICS 1 (PSM1)

Ramesh suggested that traceability has been an important concept in improving the system engineering processes.

Traceability - important in interpreting customer requirements, proving the system does exactly as wanted and creating subcontracts using RT information as a basis of them.

Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineering (IEEE) in developing System Requirements Specifications lists traceability as one of the four properties that requirements should have and in Recommended Practice for Software Requirements Specifications recommends that the requirement should be traceable to its origin and facilitate future referencing.

U.S. DoD (Department of Defense) standard 2167A insists that a requirement should be traceable to the product baseline.

Benefits and Motivation of Requirement Traceability

METHODOLOGY

PROJECT BIOINFORMATICS 1 (PSM1)

Research Framework

PROJECT BIOINFORMATICS 1 (PSM1)

PHASE 1: LITERATURE REVIEW PHASE• Collect data and resources that related in this research• Study and understand the contents of resources on

existing algorithms, methods and tools• Identify problems, goal, objectives and scopes of study• Collect dataset

PHASE 2: DEVELOPMENT PHASE• Implementing the Extension Features- Driven Use Case

Model (e-FDUCM) using the method algorithm.• Test the feasibility of the method algorithm on module

of Admission and Application in eCAMPUS system.PHASE 3: RESULTS AND EVALUATION PHASE

• Evaluate the results of this research and discuss if this research does the job of ensure that the system meet the user requirement.

• Discuss the Requirement Traceability method.

Features-Driven Use Case Model (FDUCM)

PROJECT BIOINFORMATICS 1 (PSM1)

Features-Driven Use Case Model (FDUCM)

PROJECT BIOINFORMATICS 1 (PSM1)

FDUCM only provides the forwards RT: from user requirements to functional requirements. The backwards RT which from requirements to artifacts is not considered in the model.

For resolving this problem, FDUCM was extended and transformed to e-FDUCM

Extension of Features-Driven Use Case Model (e-FDUCM)

PROJECT BIOINFORMATICS 1 (PSM1)

Traceability Strategy : Identify the set of traceability types required to

define our traceability items. Identify the valid traceability relationships

between these traceability types. Identify the attributes required by the

traceability items to enable effective requirements management for the project.

Build traceability relationship table or traceability relationship matrix to implant the RT.

CONCLUSION

PROJECT BIOINFORMATICS 1 (PSM1)

FUTURE WORKS

PROJECT BIOINFORMATICS 1 (PSM1)

EXPECTED RESULT

PROJECT BIOINFORMATICS 1 (PSM1)

The most important benefit of the requirement traceability to be implement in this project is to check either the system is compatible with user requirement or not.

This project suggests that extension of Features-Driven Use Case Model (e-FDUCM) as the best method to implement as the algorithm is easiest and simplest but the effectiveness still is proven.

This research on requirement traceability also will make benefit to eCAMPUS system and also other system to implement as this research describe briefly the procedures, steps and strategy of the method.
