1st Balkan Shito Ryu Open Championship

Dear friends and colleagues,
I am honored to invite you for the very first time in Albania, in order to participate in
the 1st Balkan Shito Ryu Open Championship.
By “Open” we’re pleased to host a championship which is open to all countries around
the Balkans as well as open for all styles in the event of Kumite.
The purpose of this Championship is to connect the Shito Ryu practitioners all over the
Balkan, European, Asian and African countries, no matter under which line they’ve been
practicing. The Shito Ryu “freestylers” are also welcome in order to meet those who are
working traditionally under World Shito Ryu Karate Federation (W.S.K.F.), and establish
connections for a common achievement, the growth of Shito Ryu worldwide.
Albania has been chosen for this first event because is easily accessible by air, sea and
road, as well as is a country which the costs of accommodation and general costs are quite
low.
The city of Durres has a very big capacity in hotels of all types and categories
accordingly to the cost you’re willed to bear. All delegations are free to get accommodation
wherever they’re pleased. In case that you need help to get accommodation, transportation

The date of the events have been chosen through monitoring the activities of the
National Federations and it’s a good opportunity for a fast comeback of our students in the
dojos, in order to start their preparation for the coming up events in Balkans, in Europe and
worldwide.
Hoping you will encourage our efforts to unite the strong Balkan core of Shito Ryu
through your participation, we anticipate in welcome you all in Albania.

LEVEL 1 can perform only Heian/Pinan (1-5) Shito Ryu. Katas may be repeated as many times
is needed.
LEVEL 2 can perform all Shito Ryu Katas including Heian/Pinan. Different Kata in every round
is required.
KATA TEAMS can perform ALL SHITO RYU KATAS. Different Kata in every round is required
and Bunkai is obligatory in the finals except children’s category.

REFEREES
KATA
Referees with valid Kata license from W.K.F. – E.K.F. – M.K.F.U. -
K.F.B. – W.S.K.F. are allowed to participate. Also W.S.K.F.
representatives are welcome to serve their duties as KATA Referees.
KUMITE
Same as in Kata, plus Referees with valid Kumite license from their
National Federation are welcome to serve their duties.
Balkan Shitokai Karate Association will fully accommodate for free the
highest in rank Referee of every country.
Referees who would like to participate to get experience as Score
Keepers and Judges are welcome.

CONGRESS’ AGENDA
1. Presentation of 1st “SR1 Open”
2. Establishing the Balkan Shito Ryu Karate Federation.
3. E.C. elections
4. Official recognition by World Shito Ryu Karate Federation
5. Registration of new countries-members to W.S.K.F.
6. Establishing connections with W.S.K.F. regarding events, seminars, exams
7. Establishing connections with W.K.F. – E.K.F. – K.F.B.
8. Hosting countries for 2d and 3d “SR1 Open”
REGISTRATION - PARTICIPATION TERMS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
All clubs are allowed to participate in SR1 Open. It is not required for the
participants to be registered members of their National Federation as long as
they comply with W.K.F. rules in Kumite and as long as they meet the required
technical level in Kata.
There is no discrimination about under which line and Master the Clubs are
practicing.
“Freestylers” are more than welcome as they’ll be able to make new bonds
with the Balkan Shito Ryu core.
Private Organizations are also welcome as the main interest for all of us is to
build bridges of friendship and cooperation.
It is our wish to see traditional clubs, sport clubs, all clubs to come and
represent their country under their national flag, disregarding all argues and
differences they might have or had. Argues and differences will always be there,
it is for us to leave them at the side and serve our beautiful style, it is our
obligation to serve Karate and its lovers.
All delegations must provide 2 official flags and national anthem during
registration.
Please be very precise about the age and the weight of your athletes.
It is compulsory for all participants and delegate members to effectuate their
own medical insurance and personal trip insurance. The Albanian Karate
Federation and the Balkan Shitokai Karate Association are taking no liability for
these concepts. During registration each delegation/club must present a signed
insurance form.
