Lyudmila Yevgen’evna Titova is our famous countrywoman. She is the Champion of Winter Olympic Games in 1968 in Grenoble ,the absolute champion of the USSR in 1968 , the world record holder. She is awarded the Order of Friendship, medals "For Labour Valour ", " For Labor ."

Lyudmila Yevgen’evna was born in Chita on the 26th of March, 1946. There were four children in the family. All of them loved sport and went in for skating. Lyudmila got the second rank in skating when she studied in ninth form. In a year she got the first one. After school Lyudmila Titova entered the Institute of Technology in Ulan-Ude In 1963 she had already dealt with “machinery and equipment of light industry", but in 1965 she studied in the Moscow Aviation Institute named after S. Ordzhonikidze. Titova graduated it in 1968.

Studying in the institute Lyudmila Titova continued to go in for skating. In 1966 she won “silver” medal taking part in the world skate competition in Norway. In 1967 she was the best skater in the world. In 1968 at X Olympic Games in Grenoble Lyudmila Titova won "gold“ medal at a distance of 500 meters and "silver” medal at the distance of 1000 meters .

In 1972, at the Winter Olympic Games in Sapporo Lyudmila Titova won a “bronze” medal at the the distance of 500 meters.In the Winter Olympics, took seventh place at the distance of 1,000 meters. Titova was bronze medalist at the World Championship in 1971 and won the World Cup in Sprint Speed Skating in 1972 . She was Silver medalist at the European Championship in 1971 . Lyudnila Titova was the absolute champion of the USSR in 1968 . Our famous countrywoman became six-time champion of the competitions in 1967 , 1968, 1970-1972 at the sprint distance . She set a world record at the distance of 1,000 meters.

They say : “Talented person is talented in everything.” After finishing sport career Lyudmila Titiva worked as the Radio and Television sportscaster . She is the author of the book "From the Rusty Ridge to the Flying Dutchman ." Annually there are competitions in skating for the prizes of Olympic champion Lyudmila Titova in Zabaikalsky Krai and Lyudmila Titova always comes to Chita to take part in these events.
