Is probably the most well-known American

anarchist.

Somewhat curious given the fact that he is a

liberal-leftist politically, and downright

reactionary in his academic specialty, linguistic

theory.

Chomsky is also, by all accounts, a

generous, sincere, tireless activist -- which

does not, unfortunately, ensure his

thinking has liberatory value.

He is critical of government policies.

His goal is for “ a significant degree of

democratization“.

Chomsky believes that all languages —

and there are more than 5,000 —

contain core similarities in grammar

structure that humans inherently

understand from birth.

This concept is called

transformational generative

grammar. Chomsky stresses that it is the

universal unconscious aspects of

language that allow individuals to

create original grammatic sentences.
