• The love of God has

been betrayed.

woman whom he loves but who deserts him; in the same way, Israel had forsaken its true lover to give herself to the Baals

Hos 3:1-5

歐瑟亞先知• His own experience of

the marriage union, characterized by a tender, understanding love and an unshakeable fidelity provides the insight to understand the love of YHWH

歐瑟亞先知• For Hosea, his own painful experience

becomes a symbol and a condition for his ministry as a prophet.

• He is the first to use the symbol of marriage to express YHWH-Israel relationship.

歐瑟亞先知• Faithful love:

– Friendship, union, loyalty..– Faithfulness to his covenant and kindness to his

people (2:22; 6:6; 10:12;

• Knowledge of God– Not intellectual but through the experience love

and covenant (2:22; 4:6; 6:3;

• Reconciliation:–“I am going to seduce her and

lead her into the desert and speak to her heart” (Hos 2:16)

• Our response– Hos 6:6…For faithful love is what pleases me,

not sacrifice; knowledge of God, not burn offerings.

– I shall fall like dew on Israel, he will bloom like the lily…
