Problem Solving vs. Problem Solving
When a student solves a problem, he/shewill first read the chapter and then attemptthe solution. (right???)
The engineer however rarely has sufficient priorinformation for the problem(s) he/she has tosolve.
A major step of problem solving is ingathering appropriate information.

The Story of Engineering Knowledge
Once upon a time.there was a gifted engineer whohad retired after 35 years. Several years later, hiscompany contacted him regarding an impossibleproblem they were having with their multi-million dollarsystem.
The engineer reluctantly took the challenge and afterhe spend several hours studying the system hardware,he marked a small x with a marker, on a particularcomponent and told management to replace it.
The company received a bill for $50,000.
