    Porta Venezia

    Librizzi's Fancy Hat

I went out for dinner with Francesco Librizzi.

Very nice chitchat. He is busy into a lot of

interesting and nice projects (too bad, I can't

    disclose much yet).

Anyway, after all these stories about people,

architectures, things and thoughts, the thing I

liked the most was his (very) stylish hat.

How can you do architecture in style if you are not

    able to dress properly?

    Image of the Day

I've found another fantastic collection of images.

It is a project by CCA, and it is called "image of

    the day".

Every day, a new image, from their astonishingand fantastic (analog) collections.

    Here the link: http://www.cca.qc.ca/en/tag/4822

Thanks toFabrizio Gallantifor the hint, and

thanks to Tim Abrahams for setting up the game.

Of course, in a perfect world, there should besome flashing link on the homepage of CCA linking

directly to the new daily feed (but we know, we

don't live in a perfect world...)

    1870s. Albumen silver print, 23.1 x 28.8 cm. CCA

    Collection. PH1980:0683.03:038

With an uneasy peace currently existing in the

West Bank in Palestine, this photograph captures a

small town in the region in apparently more

tranquil times. This photograph was taken by the

Frenchman Flix Bonfils, who moved to Beirut in

1867 and opened a photographic studio called

Maison Bonfils. Bethlehem is according to the

Gospel of Luke the town where Jesuss parents

travelled for the Census of Quirinius and where

    their son was born.

Now reading Lebbeus Woods' "War and

Architecture", in a new Italian edition.

Very special book, for a very special architect.

    unconventional

Architecture and war are not incompatible.

Architecture is war. War is architecture. I am at

war with my time, with history, with all authority

that resides in fixed and frightened forms.

I am one of millions who do not fit in, who have no

home, no family, no doctrine, no firm place to call

my own, no known beginning or end, no "sacred

and primordial site." I declare war on all icons and

finalities, on all histories that would chain me with

my own falseness, my own pitiful fears. I know

only moments, and lifetimes that are as moments,

and forms that appear with infinite strength, then

"melt into air." I am an architect, a constructor of

worlds, a sensualist who worships the flesh, the

melody, a silhouette against the darkening sky.

I cannot know your name. Nor you can know mine.

Tomorrow, we begin together the construction of

    a city.

    (Lebbeus Woods)

This photo (and the one linked below) are from

This Russian city was known in 90s as crimecapital of Russia, many Russian mafia leaders

    Malpensa - Terminal 2

    A Lonely Stair. Waiting for

Grunwald Center for the Graphic Arts

demonstrates Perrys skills as a printmaker. It

combines a diagram of the artists body with a

medieval map of the world. The composition is

riddle with allegorical references to the artists

own identities and witty allusions to current

social, political, and economic themes. Churches

for Microsoft and Starbucks, and an Elizabethan

portrait of a woman titled St. Claire, Perrys alter
