    Life is short. Play more.

Cor Noltee opened his lecture with a great oldie:"Life is shor, play more", an Xbox commercial from

    For a Good Story...

Every time I go to a lecture, to a conference or

something, there is always a moment (or a person

or a phrase) that gives meaning to my trip.

Here in Utrecht, this person has been JukkaHeinanen (a playwrighter from Finland).

He said this very true thing:

For a good story you need three things: somemind, some heart and some balls.

Nowadays students, they have very big minds, very

little hearts and no balls at all.

    That's it.

    United Micro Kingdoms:

    A Design Fiction

    In the meanwhile, in London

London-based designers Anthony Dunne and Fiona

Raby have been speculating on the consequencesof technological advance since the early 1990s. In

their role as designers, writers and educators at

the Royal College of Art, the duo have been

pioneers of critical design, creating objects and

imagining scenarios that make us think twiceabout the future of todays technologies.

Their latest vision is currently on view in "United

Micro Kingdoms (UmK): A Design Fiction" at

Londons Design Museum. Located in a small roomon the Museums top floor, the exhibition depicts

an unspecified future in which England has been

    divided into four micro kingdoms: Digitarian;

    Commune-nuclearist; Anarcho-evolutionist; and

Bioliberal. With their own political ethos, economic system and way of life, the kingdoms

have been conceived as glimpses into potential

futures for our own society that allow us to debate

    their desirability.

    Febo: De Lekkerste!

I like Dutch cuisine pretty well. Out of their

various tasteful things, the one I like the most is

    the Febo system.

FEBO is a chain of Dutch walk-up fast food

restaurants of the automatiek type. Founded in

1941 in Amsterdam, FEBO is most notable for this

automatic format: a counter is available for

    purchasing French fries, beverages, and

from the automats. The primary automat-vended

    items are krokets, frikandellen, hamburgers,

    Kaassouffls and similar items.

The FEBO motto De Lekkerste (Dutch) is translated

    as "The Tastiest".

According to the company website, FEBO has

almost 60 shops all over the Netherlands, with 54

being franchises. There are 22 shops in Amsterdam

    alone.

Originally a bakery named "Maison FEBO" after

Ferdinand Bolstraat in Amsterdam, founded by

Johan de Borst (1919-2008), the name was later
