Seminar DescriptionFair lending issues continue to be a major concern for the financial services industry. Regulators enforce fair lending laws and evaluate what practices may be deemed unfair, deceptive, or abusive to consumers. How do financial institutions prepare for these types of regulatory discus-sions and reviews? What should they be looking for? More importantly, how do they create a methodology for conducting fair lending reviews?

This program will focus on steps financial institutions can take to prevent, detect, and eliminate fair lending problems. This seminar builds a foundation with a brief overview of the five keystones of fair lending.

Who Should AttendSince fair lending involves all aspects of the lending process, everyone from the lending side of the institution can benefit from this seminar. In addition to lenders themselves, this seminar provides helpful information to those who work in loan processing, loan review, HMDA, CRA, compliance, audit, and marketing. Senior lend-ing officers and senior management also will benefit, as they—along with the board of directors—are responsible for insuring compliance with fair lending requirements.

Delivery Method, Program Level, and ContentThis live program is presented at the intermediate level and focuses on federal law. Attendants should be gener-ally familiar with lending terms and procedures. This is the annual review for those who realize the breadth of their task and know that, without help, they can-not read enough to keep up in this area. No advance preparation is required.
