La industria del Plástico contribuye con el 1% del producto interno bruto. La expectativa de crecimiento se ubica en 5%, con ventas estimadas mayores a 21 mil millones de dólares.
Hoy México cuenta con una población de 112 millones de la cual el 50% está debajo de los 25 años de edad y demandan cada vez mayores productos de plástico.
Monterrey tiene más de 350 empresas proveedoras de las principales OEMs, estas empresas son transformadoras de plástico entre 2 y 10 máquinas de inyección que dan servicio a industrias como la automotriz, dispositivos médicos, electrodomésticos y aeroespacial, entre muchas otras.
Monterrey actúa como un eje importante de comercio de los estados del norte de México facilitando el intercambio comercial entre ellos y los Estados Unidos, convirtiéndola así en una región muy importante para los negocios dentro de la industria del plástico.
El estado de Nuevo León recibió en 2011 $1,600 millones de dólares de inversión extrajera directa, lo cual crea un ambiente industrial y laboral sano en el estado y se le considera de los más estables en México para las industrias establecidas.
