Saakin letters

The meaning of Saakin:It means stationary. That is a letter with no movement on it

Stationary.

The way it is written:A Saakin letter either does not have any Harakah on it or it

has a Sukoonsign on it.

The Qualities to be considered for the Arabic

letters with Sukoon

The Qalqalah (shaking) letters :

This group of letters is pronounced with Qalqala (shaking) in

the status of Sukoon (Stationary).

The letters and :These letters are from The Hamss letters . They

should be pronounced with slight release of air with Sukoon to

avoid Qalqalah of the letter.

Note: a Saakin letter is always preceded by a letter with a

Harakah on it

The letter :This letter is pronounced heavy with Sukoon when it is

preceded with a letter with Fat-hah or Dhammah. And it is

pronounce light with Sukoon when it is preceded with a letter withKasrah.

The letter :This letter should be given a special attention with Sukoon to

avoid making Qalqalah in it. Simply prolong the sound of the letter

throughout its origination. This letter quality is called

Istitaalah .

The following chart shows the Arabic Alphabet with Sukoon

(preceded with a letter with Harakah, since the Arabic word cannot

start with a Saakin letter): -
