The Huntsville Festival of the Arts has beensupporting aspiring artists through its scholarshipprogram for the past sixteen years. Over that timeperiod, in excess of $50,000 has been directed to support ongoing performing arts education, or lessons with professional instructors, with the aim of encouraging the recipients’ love of the arts andenabling them to further their expertise in theirchosen field.
In 2011, the Festival will focus their scholarship program towards senior students who are pursuingpost-secondary studies in music and the performingarts. In recent years the Festival has partnered withcommunity individuals and organizations to broadenthe reach of their scholarship support.
Kelly HolinsheadKelly Holinshead is a professional photographerand the owner of The Shutterbug Gallery, whichshowcases numerous examples of her exceptionalphotography. She is recognized as one ofMuskoka’s leading photographers with a strongreputation for excellence in fine art, wedding, portraiture, and commercial photography. As amember of one of Huntsville’s pioneer families,it’s no surprise that Kelly’s striking fine artphotography so often mirrors the diverse andtimeless beauty of Muskoka, but this sought-afterphotographer also has an abundant and variedportfolio of work that reaches beyond Muskoka’sborders.
Kelly’s signature fine art images incorporate a technique where she overlays variousphotographs of similar or varying subject matters, creating interesting and unusual textures andcolors. It is this signature technique that wasused to create this year’s Festival image.
When time allows, Kelly can be found — cameraat the ready — with her husband and dogs, enjoying their property in rural Huntsville or traveling the globe in search of new subjects.
