Digital Image• Numeric

representation (usually binary) of 2D image

• Vector vs. Rastero Vector: using mathematical

geometry to describe points; can be resized with no degradation in quality

o Raster: consists of fixed number of picture elements = pixels

Raster• Aka. Bitmap

o Rectangular grid of pixels

• Pixels store informationo Typically RGB values

BMP• The classical image format• No compression of pixel data• Compare to RAW format

• They’re HUGE

GIF• Graphics Interchange Format• 8-bit per pixel, 256 color palette• A lossless format• Can be used in small animations

o Each frame is a GIF with its own palette

PNG• Portable Network Graphics

o Successor to GIF

• Supports ‘truecolor’ (16 million)• Can be both lossless and lossy

o Lossy JPEG is better

• Streamable, works well with browsers

JPG/JPEG• Joint Photographic Experts Group• 8-bit grayscale || 24-bit color (8-bit per R,G,B)• Lossy compression

o 高頻不敏感o Fourier transformo Quantization Matrix
