    Still image warning

    Avoid displaying still images (such as jpeg picture les) or still image elements (such as TV channel logos, panorama or 4:3 image ormat, stock or newsbars at screen bottom etc.) on the screen. Constant displaying o a still picture can cause ghosting o the LED screen, which will aect image quality. Toreduce risk o this eect, please ollow the recommendations below: Avoid displaying the same TV channel or long periods. Always try to display a ull screen image.     Viewing the Control Panel

    The product color and shape may vary depending on the model.

    To control the TV using the LED touch pad, tap the LED touch pad centered underneath the stand. The touch pad willslide out by itsel. The LED touch pad will slide back in i unused or a speciied period o time.

    3D Emitter The LED on the 3D emitter blinks only when sending a 3D signal.

    Power Indicator Blinks and turns o when the power is on and lights up in standby mode.

    Remote control sensor Aim the remote control towards this spot on the TV.

    SOURCEE Toggles between all the available input sources. In the on-screen menu, use thisbutton as you would use the ENTERE button on the remote control.

    MENUm Displays an on-screen menu, the OSD (on screen display) o your TVs eatures.

    y Adjusts the volume. In the OSD, use they buttons as you would use the and buttons on the remote control.

    z Changes the channels. In the OSD, use thez buttons as you would use the and buttons on the remote control.

    P (Power) Turns the TV on or o.

    Standby mode

    Do not leave your TV in standby mode or long periods o time (when you are away on a holiday, or example). A small amounto electric power is still consumed even when the power button is turned o. It is best to unplug the power cord.

    Mini Remote Control

    The Mini Remote Control is a simplied remote control that consists o the power, channel and volume buttons only.

    Description

    This is a special remote control or the visually impaired and has Braille points on the Channel and Volume buttons.

    Inserting the battery

    1. Turn the battery cover counterclockwise to unlock it and thenseparate the battery cover.

    2. Insert a 3V Lithium battery with the + side acing down into thebattery cover.

    3. Place the battery cover into the remote control aligning it with thegrooves and then turn the battery cover clockwise to lock thecover.

    I the remote control doesnt work, check the ollowing:x Is the TV power on?

    x Are the plus and minus ends o the batteries reversed?

    x Are the batteries drained?

    x Is there a power outage or is the power cord unplugged?

    x Is there a special luorescent light or neon sign nearby?

    Connecting to an Antenna

    When the TV is initially powered on, basic settings proceed automatically.

    Plug & Play (Initial Setup)

    When the TV is initially powered on, a sequence o on-screen prompts will assist in conguring basic settings. Press thePOWERP button. Plug & Play is available only when the Input source is set to TV.

    To return to the previous step, press the Red button.

    4 Selecting a channel Press the or button, then press the ENTERE button. Select the channel sourceto memorize. When setting the antenna source to Cable, a step appears allowing you toassign numerical values (channel requencies) to the channels. For more inormation, reer toChannelAuto Program (p. 15).

    Press the ENTERE button at any time to interrupt the memorization process.

    5 Setting the ClockMode Set the Clock Mode automatically or manually.y Auto: Allows you to select time zone.y Manual: Allows you to manually set the current date and time (p. 25).

    6 View the HDConnection Guide The connection method or the best HD screen quality is displayed.

    ConnectionsConnecting to an AV Device

    Using an HDMI or HDMI/DVI Cable: HD connection (up to 1080p)

    Available devices: DVD, Blu-ray player, HD cable box, HD STB (Set-Top-Box) satellite receiver

    HDMI IN 1(DVI), 2(ARC), 3, 4, PC/DVI AUDIO IN

    x For better picture and audio quality, connect to a digital device using an HDMI cable.

    x An HDMI cable supports digital video and audio signals, and does not require an audio cable. To connect the TV to a digital device that does not support HDMI output, use an HDMI/DVI and audio cables.

    x The picture may not display normally (i at all) or the audio may not work i an external device that uses an olderversion o HDMI mode is connected to the TV. I such a problem occurs, ask the manuacturer o the externaldevice about the HDMI version and, i out o date, request an upgrade.

    x Be sure to use an HDMI cable with a thickness o 14 mm or less.

    x Be sure to purchase a certiied HDMI cable. Otherwise, the picture may not display or a connection error mayoccur.

    x A basic high-speed HDMI cable or one with ethernet is recommended. This product does not support theethernet unction via HDMI.

    x This product supports the 3D and ARC (Audio Return Channel) unctions via an HDMI cable. Note that theARC unction is supported by the HDMI IN 2(ARC) port only.

    I3D Auto View is set to On, some unctions such as Internet@TV may be disabled. In this case, set3D Auto View or 3D Mode to O.

    x The ARC unction allows digital audio to output via the HDMI IN 2(ARC) port. It can be enabled only when theTV is connected with an audio receiver that supports the ARC unction.

    Connecting to an Audio Device

    Using an Optical (Digital) or Audio (Analog) Cable Connection

    Available devices: Digital Audio System, Amplier, DVD home theater

    DIGITAL AUDIO OUT (OPTICAL)

    x When a Digital Audio System is connected to the DIGITAL AUDIO OUT (OPTICAL) jack, decrease the volumeo both the TV and the system.

    x 5.1 CH (channel) audio is available when the TV is connected to an external device supporting 5.1 CH.

    x When the receiver (home theater) is set to on, you can hear sound output rom the TVs optical jack. When theTV is receiving a DTV signal, the TV will send 5.1 CH sound to the home theater receiver. When the source isa digital component such as a DVD / Blu-ray player / cable box / STB (Set-Top-Box) satellite receiver and isconnected to the TV via HDMI, only 2 CH audio will be heard rom the home theater receiver. I you want tohear 5.1 CH audio, connect the digital audio out jack rom your DVD / Blu-ray player / cable box / STB satellitereceiver directly to an ampliier or home theater.

    AUDIO OUT: Connects to the audio input jacks on your ampliier/DVD home theater.

    GuideThe EPG (Electronic Program Guide)inormation is provided by broadcasters. Usingprogram schedules provided by broadcasters,you can speciy programs you want to watchin advance so that the channel automaticallychanges to the selected program channel atthe specied time. Program entries may appearblank or out o date depending on a channelstatus.

    Fine Tune(analog channels only)I the reception is clear, you do not have to ne tune thechannel, as this is done automatically during the search andstore operation. I the signal is weak or distorted, ne tunethe channel manually. Scroll to the let or right until the imageis clear.

    Settings are applied to the channel you're currentlywatching.

    Fine tuned channels that have been saved are markedwith an asterisk * on the right-hand side o thechannel number in the channel banner.

    To reset the ine-tuning, select Reset.

    LNA (On/ O)(Low Noise Amplier)

    I the TV is operating in a weak-signal area, the LNA unctioncan improve the reception (a low-noise preamplier booststhe incoming signal).

    Color System (Auto / PAL-M / PAL-N /NTSC)Normally the TV can receive image and sound with goodquality when in the mode auto. This mode detects the signalcolor system automatically. In case o some signal receptionwith color unsatisactory, select the Color System Mode toPAL-M, PAL-N or NTSC.

    You can set up your TV so that it can access the Internet through your local area network (LAN) using a wired or wirelessconnection.

    Connecting to a Wired Network

    You can attach your TV to your LAN using cable in three ways:y You can attach your TV to your LAN by connecting the LAN port on the back o your TV to an external modem using a Cat

    5 cable. See the diagram below.

    y You can attach your TV to your LAN by connecting the LAN port on the back o your TV to a IP Sharer which is connectedto an external modem. Use a Cat 5 cable or the connection. See the diagram below.

    y Depending on how your network is congured, you may be able to attach your TV to your LAN by connecting the LANport on the back o your TV directly to a network wall outlet using a Cat 5 cable. See the diagram below. Note that the walloutlet is attached to a modem or router elsewhere in your house.

    I you have a Dynamic Network, you should use an ADSL modem or router that supports Dynamic Host CongurationProtocol (DHCP). Modems and routers that support DHCP automatically provide the IP address, subnet mask, gateway,and DNS values your TV needs to access the Internet so you dont have to enter them manually. Most home networks areDynamic Networks.Some networks require a Static IP address. I your network requires a Static IP address, you must enter the IP address,subnet mask, gateway, and DNS values manually on your TVs Cable Setup Screen when you set up the networkconnection.     Connecting to a Wireless Network

    To connect your TV to your network wirelessly, you need a wireless router or modem and a Samsung Wireless LAN Adapter

    (WIS09ABGN), which you connect to your TVs side panel USB jack. See the illustration below.

    Samsungs Wireless LAN adapter supports the IEEE 802.11A/B/G and N communication protocols. Samsung recommends

    using IEEE 802.11N. When you play video over a IEEE 802.11B/G connection, the video may not play smoothly. NOTEx You must use the Samsung Wireless LAN Adapter (WIS09ABGN) to use a wireless network.x To use a wireless network, your TV must connect wirelessly to a wireless IP sharer (either a router or a modem). I the

    wireless IP sharer supports DHCP, your TV can use a DHCP or static IP address to connect to the wireless network.

    x Select a channel or the wireless IP sharer that is not currently being used. I the channel set or the wireless IP sharer

    is currently being used by another device nearby, this will result in intererence and communication ailure.

    Ensure the LAN cable is connected to theWAN port o the AP during Samsung AutoConiguration. I it is not connected, SamsungAuto Coniguration only conirms that the TV isconnected to the AP, but does not conirm it isconnected to the Internet.

    2. Ater 2 minutes, connect the Samsung Wireless LANAdapter to the TV. When the Samsung Wireless LANAdapter establishes a connection with your TV, a pop-upwindow appears.

    3. As soon as a connection is established, place the APparallel to the Samsung Wireless LAN Adapter and notarther than than 9 and 7/8s inches (25cm) rom it.

    4. Wait until the connection is automatically established.

    I Samsung Auto Coniguration does not connectyour TV to your AP, a pop-up window appears onthe screen notiying you o the ailure. I you wantto try using Samsung Auto Coniguration again,reset the AP, disconnect the Samsung WirelessLAN Adapter and then try again rom Step 1. Youcan also choose one o the other connectionsetup methods: PBC (WPS), auto, or manual.

    5. Place the AP in a desired location.

    I the AP settings change or you install a newAP, you must perorm the Samsung AutoConiguration procedure again, beginning romStep 1.

    Network Setup (Auto)Most wireless networks have an optional security systemthat requires devices that access the network to transmitan encrypted security code called an Access or SecurityKey. The Security Key is based on a Pass Phrase, typically

    a word or a series o letters and numbers o a speciedlength you were asked to enter when you set up security oryour wireless network. I you use this method o setting upthe network connection, and have a Security Key or yourwireless network, you will have to enter the Pass Phraseduring the setup process.

    How to set up automatically

    To set up the wireless connection automatically, ollow thesesteps:1. Follow Steps 1 through 6 in the How to set up using

    PBC (WPS) procedure.

    How to connect to new Ad-hoc device

    1. Follow Steps 1 through 6 in the How to set up usingPBC (WPS) (p. 33).

    2. Choose Select a Network. A list o devices/networksappears.

    3. While in the device list, press the Blue button on theremote.

    The messageAd-hoc is a direct Wi-Ficonnection with cell phone or PC. The existingnetwork system may have limited unctionality.Do you want to change the networkconnection? is displayed.

    4. Input the generated Network Name (SSID) andSecurity Key into the device you want to connect.

    How to connect an existing Ad-hoc device

    1. Follow Steps 1 through 6 in the How to set up usingPBC (WPS) (p. 33).

    2. Choose Select a Network. The Device/Network listappears.

    3. Select the device you want in the Device list.

    4. I security key is required, input the security key.

    I network doesnt operate normally, checkthe Network Name (SSID) and Security Keyagain. An incorrect Security Key may cause amalunction.

    Network Setup (Manual)I the other methods do not work, you need to enter theNetwork setting values manually.

    Getting the Network Connection Values

    To get the Network connection values on most Windowscomputers, ollow these steps:1. Right click the Network icon on the bottom right o the

    2. In the pop-up menu, click Status.

    3. On the dialog that appears, click the Support tab.

    4. On the Support tab, click the Details button. TheNetwork settings are displayed.

    How to set up manually

    For the TV to use Internet@TV, the AP (access point)

    must be connected to the wireless network. Only sharers using the 2.4 Ghz band are supported.Sharers using the 5 Ghz band are not supported.

    I Your TV Fails to Connect to the Internet

    Your TV may not be able to connect to the Internetbecause your ISP has permanently registered theMAC address (a unique identiying number) o yourPC or modem, which it then authenticates each timeyou connect to the Internet as a way o preventing

    unauthorized access. As your TV has a dierent MACaddress, your ISP can not authenticate its MAC address,and your TV can not connect.To resolve this problem, ask your ISP about theprocedures required to connect devices other than a PC(such as your TV) to the Internet.I your Internet service provider requires an ID or passwordto connect to the Internet, your TV may not be able toconnect to the I nternet. I this is the case, you must enteryour ID or password when connecting to the Internet.The internet connection may ail because o a rewallproblem. I this is the case, contact your Internet serviceprovider.I you cannot connect to the Internet even ater you haveollowed the procedures o your Internet service provider,please contact Samsung Electronics at 0800-124-421.

    Connecting a USB Device

    1. Turn on your TV.

    2. Connect a USB device containing recorded tv, photo, music and/or movie les tothe USB 1 or USB 2 port on the back or side panel o the TV.

    3. When USB is connected to the TV, a popup window appears. Then you canselect Media Play.

    Connecting to your PC through a network

    You can play pictures, music and videos saved on your PC through a network connection in the Media Play mode.

    I you want to use Media Play to play les saved on your PC over your TV, you should download PC Share Manager andthe users manual rom www.samsung.com.
