    WHAT IS UID ? The Unique Identification Authority Of India is

    an agency of the government of Indiaresponsible for implementing the envisioned

    unique identification card (UID CARDS)project in the country.

    It was established in February 2009.

    The Authority aims at providing a uniquenumber to all Indians.

    AADHAAR(UNIQUE ID PROJECT)

    Indias ambitious unique id projectAadhaarwhich aims to give every Indian citizen aunique number mapped to biometrics, waslaunched in the Nadurbar district of

    Maharashtra. Aadhaar is a 12-digit unique number which

    the Unique Identification Authority of Indiawill issue for all residents.

    UIDAI will enable a universal identityinfrastructure that any Id based applicationlike ration card , passport etc can use.

    A number of countries & continents do nothave national identity cards. These include

    Australia, Canada, Denmark, Ireland, Japan ,New Zealand, united states.

    Limitation of UID The cost of introducing and

    administering an identity card systemcan be very high.

    Commercial organizations such as banktypically do not try to authenticate theidentity of a person but rather the validityof a transaction due to theacknowledged difficulty in reliablyidentifying an individual in a fraud proofand convenient manner.

    INDIA

    Hi-tech multi-purpose national identity cards,carrying 16 personal details and a UID numbers,

    were launched in DELHI in 2007. The identity cards are issued to citizens above

    18 years of age.

    The card has a SCOSTA micro-processor chip

    with a memory of 16 KB which is securedagainst tampering.

    Malaysia is regarded as the first

    country to introduce smartidentity cards a proof ofsuccess in large scale

    incorporation of biometrics.

    GERMANY

    It is compulsory for all German citizens age16 or older, who reside in Germany topossess either a IDENTITY CARD.

    While police officers and some other officialshave a right to demand to see of thosedocuments, the law does not state that one isobliged to submit the documents at that verymoment.

    UNITED KINGDOM

    o The UK government is progressivelyintroducing compulsory identity cards forforeign nationals resident in the UK from late2008.

    o Identity cards for British nationals wasintroduced in 2009 on a voluntary basis andonly workers in certain high securityprofessions, such as airport workers will berequired to have an identity card.

    o Driving licenses and passports are now themost widely used ID documents.

    Pakistan In Pakistan all adults citizens must

    register for the computerized nationalidentity card with a unique number at age18.

    Earlier on national identity card wereissued to citizens of Pakistan nowgovernment has shifted all its existingrecords of NIC to the central computerizeddatabase managed by NADRA.

    We wish that may the implementation of UIDsolves the problem of our country i.e. equaldistribution of Income and to deal with the

    problem of terrorism as they are unnecessarydisturbing the peace of the country .
