Want2Work (2) Project Description

Want2Work builds on the key employment programmes provided by the Department for Work and Pensions with the key objective of engaging increased numbers of economically inactive individuals, particularly those who traditionally fail to engage with mainstream programmes, with the primary aim of supporting more people back into work.

The project places a significant emphasis on providing outreach services in communities that experience multiple and varied disadvantage, working in partnership to provide a strategic portfolio of activity, opportunities and stepping stones linking people with the world of work.

Project Priorities

Outputs and Results. The project has set a target of engaging 14,900 people over the six years of

operational delivery, the primary beneficiary group being those who are economically inactive. The activities of Want2Work are focused on helping people find work, the ultimate objective being to help 5,000+ people find work.

Value for Money. The business plan has been developed on a strong economic basis and places significant emphasis on the return on the investment of structural fund support. Based on a conservative assumption that 50% of those supported into work remain in work for over 12 months, W2W is expected to produce an annual saving to the Treasury of just under £6,000,000 per year in benefit savings, the overall investment being cost neutral (purely on benefit savings) within less than three years.

Added Value. Want2Work is built around two key aspects of added value:Engagement of an additional 14,900 beneficiaries in back to work activities over and above mainstream employment programme expectations.Providing a community outreach adviser service supported by a range of flexible products and initiatives to support progression towards employment.
