Animal Recognition – The ability to identify and name animals.Auditory Development – The ability to identify discrete units of speech/sound within the experience of continuous sound input. Spoken language grows out of this experience.Bi-lateral Hand Usage – The ability to coordinate the use of both hands to manipulate and control objects.Cause and Effect – Learning that particular actions produce a particular response.Color Recognition – The ability to perceive the differences between colors and the ability to identify and name basic colors.Directionality – Learning the movements of forward, backward, right, left, up or down. Entertainment – Providing amusement or enjoyment.Eye-Hand Coordination – The ability of the vision system to coordinate the information received through the eyes to control, guide, and direct the hands in the accomplishment of a given task, such as handwriting or catching a ball. Fine Motor Skills – Coordination of small muscle movements, especially those of the fingers and hand, usually in coordination with the eyes.Finger and Hand Strengthening – There are more than 25 muscles in each hand. Overall weakness of these muscles can be an issue in fine motor skill development. Strengthening exercises are important for improving fine motor skills.Finger Isolation – The ability to move and use one finger at a time. E.g. poking. Identifying Body Parts – The ability to label and name all body parts.Language Development – The process by which children come to understand and communicate language during early years.Letter Recognition – The ability to quickly and accurately name alphabet letters in order, out of order, and in capital and lower case form.Listening Skills – The ability to listen actively. Improves personal relationships through reducing conflicts, strengthening cooperation and fostering understanding.Number Recognition – The ability to identify and name numbers.Pre-Writing Skills – Skills that build essential foundational fine motor skills. They include hand strength, directional movement patterns and effective hand position which then facilitate making lines, letters and shapes. Reaching, Swiping and Grasp – The ability to interact with an object by reaching for it, swiping it or grasping it.Sensory Awareness – The ability to receive and differentiate sensory stimuli including Tactile (touch), Visual (sight), Auditory (hearing), Olfactory (smell), Vestibular (balance), and Proprioceptive (body position).Sensory Stimulation – Arousal or invigoration of the senses – vision, auditory, tactile, olfactory, gustatory, or kinesthetic.Shape Recognition – The ability to identify and name basic shapes.Sound Production – Encouraging the child to make sounds which builds and strengthens language skills.Tactile Awareness – The ability to identify and discriminate with the sense of feel and touch.Visual Attention – The ability to maintain visual fixation and concentration on a particular target or object. This skill is of critical necessity for school children and helps them maintain on-task behaviors.Visual Tracking – The ability of the eyes to follow the movement of an object in motion.
